The State President’s Office held a press briefing in Hanoi on December 14 to announce three laws, including the Law on Minerals, the Law on Protection of Consumer Rights and the Law on Civil Servants.
The Law on Minerals, with 11 chapters and 86 articles clarifies the regulations regarding strategies to protect untapped natural resources, exploitation permits and legal responsibility for protecting the interests of localities and people in the areas where are exploited. These specific regulations, in the long run, will make mineral exploitation more effective to ensure the common interests of the State, enterprises and the people.
The Law on Protection of Customers’ Rights, which consists 6 chapters and 51 articles, specifies the behaviours which violate consumers’ rights and determines the responsibility of trading organisations and individuals towards consumers, the role of social organisations in protecting consumer rights and in dealing with disputes between consumers and goods and service organisations.
The Law on Civil Servants consisting of 6 chapters and 62 articles, defines professional activities of civil servants and civil servant managers, and provides new mechanisms of recruitment of civil servants and State employees.
All the three laws will be enforced from July 1, 2011.
