Strengthening support for female workers at lodging facilities

Under the project of "Uniting and gathering  young workers in the 2016-2020 period", provincial Women's Unions at all levels have made efforts in propagandizing and taking care of female workers at lodging facilities, industrial parks across the province. With practical activities, they have contributed to improving the cultural and spiritual life of female workers living away from home.

Over the past 5 years, provincial Women's Unions at all levels established and maintained 875 sub-unions for female workers at lodging facilities with nearly 31,500 members and 31 women's union branches in non-State enterprises. At a weekend night, we had the opportunity to join a meeting of the Women’s Union branch for female workers at the lodging facility in Di An city’s Di An ward. The event was held in front of the lodging facility. Sisters of the lodging facility all expressed their joy and enjoyed activities of the Women’s Union branch. Before entering activities of the program, the ward’s Women's Union delivered Binh Duong newspaper to members. After that, the ward’s Women’s Union in coordination with the ward’s judiciary and police made law dissemination among sisters. In order to make the atmosphere of the program more attractive, the ward’s Women’s Union also organized an activity answering questions for prizes and celebrated collective birthdays for members. This activity met sisters’ demand for entertainment, improving their knowledge and keeping their mind on work.

Over the past time, provincial Women's Unions at all levels also coordinated with relevant units to carry out law dissemination among women by many forms with focus on the Drug Prevention Law, the Insurance Law, the Marriage and Family Law, the Road Traffic Law, the Labor Code ... In addition, provincial Women’s Union disseminated 4 virtues of Vietnamese women in the period of national industrialization and modernization: "Self-confidence - Self-esteem - Faithfulness - Resourcefulness", the Project 704 on "Educating mothers to raise good children", the campaign of "Family with 5 no-s, 3 clean-s" ...

Along with key programs and projects, grassroots Women's Unions of the province actively changed the activities of the Women’s Union branches for female workers at lodging facilities on the occasion of Tet, great holidays, Workers’ Month, Young Workers ‘Week, International Women’s Day (March 8), Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20)... They diversified educational activities and took care of the spiritual life of female workers by culinary competitions, cultural exchanges, and talk shows. Together with propaganda activities, they also mobilized donors to give gifts  for needy women, thereby helping them overcome difficulties, feel secure for living and working, contributing to the local socio-economic development.

Provincial Women’s Unions at all levels also paid more attention to propaganda and support activities for female workers at lodging facilities amid the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic. They strengthened delivery of leaflets, organization of propaganda against the pandemic. With the spirit of kindness, the whole association actively mobilized donors to give necessities for female workers at lodging facilities, encouraging women to surmount difficulties. They also organized “Zero dong” booths, market-days with many necessities offered to female workers living away from home with difficulties.

Tran Thi Thuong, a member of the Women's Union branch for female workers at the lodging facility in Di An city’s Di An ward said that joining the branch, she is very happy because of having more acquaintances. The events of the branch are very useful and entertaining. The sisters in the branch are always close help each other. That is very precious to workers living away from home like me…
