In addition to changing the shopping habit of customers, supermarkets now contribute to bringing Vietnamese goods to them. The quick development of province-based supermarkets is a good sign so that customers herein can get access to domestic goods.

Domestic goods account for 70% of total at supermarkets

Supermarket now becomes a shopping channel loved by the majority of customers. Province-based supermarkets, namely Vinatex, Citymart, Fivimart and Co.opmart, always get crowded with customers.

Customers selecting goods at a supermarket

The development of supermarkets is a good opportunity to promote domestic goods. As surveyed, there are 70% or 80% of customers’ selection towards domestic goods at supermarkets. Domestic goods at supermarkets also see diversification and plentifulness.

Nguyen Huu Khanh, head of the Management Department of Co.opmart supermarket said that the amount of domestic goods at the supermarket accounts for 70% of total. Noticeably, the majority of customers in the province have the habit of buying Vietnamese goods.

Also according to him, Vietnamese goods enjoy competitive advantages against imported ones in terms of prices and promotion programs, contributing to stimulating customers’ demand for shopping.

 Opportunities for Vietnamese goods

Many customers in the province have selected and used Vietnamese goods for a long time as Vietnamese goods are suitable to their taste and financial capacity.

According to Nguyen Van Tho, a resident in Thuan An district’s Binh Chuan commune, almost all customer goods of his family are domestic ones, due to having reasonable prices and good quality.

Dao Thi Cam Tien in Phu Tho ward also had the same idea with Mr.Tho. The majority of her customer goods are made by domestic producers. She also said that the quality of domestic goods has seen more improvement…

The above mentioned things show that customers have optimistic look at domestic goods. Customers would like to select domestic products with reasonable prices, but the same quality with foreign ones. This requires domestic producers’ investment and innovation in production equipment to make dominant products.

The State also needs to give more support to domestic products so that they actually make competitiveness in prices when they have the same quality with foreign products…
