TDM town ready for a second class city

TDM town has basically met standards for a second class city under the Government’s regulation, but faced shortcomings on population, basic infrastructure construction investment....

To improve the above shortcomings, TDM town now focuses on promoting its economic development, including attaching special importance to the attraction of investment and human resources, well realizing the management of planning and infrastructure construction by effectively taking measures to speed up urban development…

Particularly, till 2020, TDM town’s urban space will be developed under two directions, including developing eco-tourist sites, hi-class urban and service areas along the Saigon River from Ba Lua port to Ong Co bridge and developing hi-class industrial-services-urban areas in the East.

TDM town is now home to 36 residential and urban estates, most of them have met new urban criteria. But, there is only a new urban estate as the names of residential and urban projects are not right. Therefore, TDM town has called for economic organizations and people to build new residential areas and repair houses under the storey form and build social houses, lodging facilities…to ensure the scenery of the local urban architecture.

TDM town’s new urban areas are mainly developed in the North and along the Saigon River. Regarding urban infrastructure, TDM town will focus on traffic system, water supply-drainage system, environmental hygiene…

Such these apart, TDM town’s People’s Committee has made efforts in implementing a civilized urban lifestyle campaign among the local people with the main contents relating to traffic safety and environmental hygiene. TDM town will further promote this campaign so that it will become a second class city in the soonest time.

TDM town now perfects its final steps for recognition as a second class city and will continue moving towards a first class city.

Under the provincial People’s Committee’s Resolution No.32/NQ-TU dated on May 19, 2011 on TDM town’s urban development between 2011 and 2015, TDM town will strive to achieve the set targets by 2015 as follows:

-Reaching 85% of the urbanization ratio

-Achieving 20 square meter of housing area per capita

-Reaching more than 95% of the ratio of solid waste in inner TDM town collected and treated

-Achieving 100% of the ratio of health waste collected and treated
