Update: 22-03-2022 | 13:00:07

Youth Month 2022 in North Tan Uyen district has been attracting a large number of youth union members to meaningful works. With practical movements and activities, the district’s youth enthusiastically contributed to the development of the hometown.

Youth Unions of North Tan Uyen District and Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Company carry out the project "Lighting country roads".

Imprints of works

During the first days of March, the Youth Month 2022 was spirited with a launch program held by Youth Unions of North Tan Uyen District and Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Company. Ten Youth Unions of communes and towns in the district signed propagation contents about not drinking alcohol or beer as driving vehicles; not participating in racing, encouraging illegal racing; not speeding, suddenly dodging, swerving etc. to ensure traffic safety.

In that warm-up atmosphere, there was the happiness of people in quarter 1 (Tan Thanh town) because their road have been equipped with electric lights. A youth project named "Improving rural areas - Lighting country roads" worth VND 25 million was inaugurated and put into use by two Youth Unions and has formed good impressions of Youth Unions bringing community benefits. From now on, traveling on this road is more convenient and security order at night is guaranteed. With electric lights, the living space of people along this road suddenly becomes newer. Besides, the two youth unions also inaugurated a children's play area worth VND 20 million at Hamlet 3’s Office in Tan Lap commune.

Do Ngoc Loi, Secretary of North Tan Uyen District Youth Union, said: "In Youth Month, the District Youth Union cooperates with other units to present children's playgrounds in Tan Lap commune and Tan Dinh commune, each worth VND 20 million. These playgrounds have slides, swings etc. helping children enjoy playing, moving and bringing a new and more vivid color to the countryside."

To take care of people’s lives

To carry out social security work and take care of disadvantaged people, North Tan Uyen District Youth Union organized many activities and encouraged youth union branches to take part in the Youth Month. With the Small Plan Fund for the 2021-2022 school year, the District Youth Union awarded 25 scholarships, each worth VND 300,000, to students who overcome difficulties to study well; and gave 5 learning corners to disadvantaged students; advised the District People's Committee to commend and award 35 students who overcome difficulties to study well.

Youth Unions in the district have also actively shown concern for policy beneficiary groups to express the gratitude of the youth to the previous generations. In March, the District Police’s Youth Union in collaboration with Youth Unions of Nha Nai Rubber Farm and Tan Dinh Commune visited and presented gifts to policy families, people with meritorious services to the revolution, former youth pioneers in the commune. In addition, Lac An Commune also coordinated with the District Police’s Youth Union, Party – Youth Union bloc’s Youth Union to visit and give gifts to 10 policy households in the commune.

Days of this March are probably the happiest days to Huynh Hoang Phuong, a 12th grader at Le Loi High School. Her family is a poor household in Cay Dung hamlet, Hieu Liem Commune. Phuong lives with her 73-year-old grandmother in a deteriorating tiny house. Although their family situation is very difficult, with a strong will to overcome her fate, Phuong studies very hard, and has been an excellent student in 11 consecutive years. She loves her grandmother so much, does all the housework, and took advantage of her summer vacation to work in local orchards to earn more money for their lives and pay tuition fees.

Phuong said: "I try my best to graduate high school and pass the entrance exam to Can Tho Medical University so that my grandmother would be pleased and I also have the knowledge to take good care of her”. Her wish shows a spirit of overcoming the fate and filial piety for her beloved grandmother. On the other hand, Youth Union of Hieu Liem Commune has mobilized donations to carry out a project of "Repairing houses for youth union members having difficult circumstances". Therefore, Phuong’s house was repaired, and Phuong and her grandmothers now have a safer roof to live under.
