Process of rapid urbanization has made agricultural land area reduce strongly.  Thu Dau Mot city Farmers' Society has therefore encouraged local farmers to  change purpose of land using and to restructure plants and species in conformity with land and local conditions... As a result, local farmers' life has been stabilized.

  Farmer Huynh Van Khai takes care of his sprout vegetables.Thu Dau Mot city Farmers' Society chairman Le Van Hung, said the society and its members have faced many obstacles relating to development of industrialization and urbanization. In the first term of 2007-2012, the entire city had 1,068ha of agricultural production land and the land area was narrowed by 398ha in early  2012. 

To help local farmers temporize new situation, the city has encouraged them to  change purpose of land using, to restructure plants and species in conformity  with land and local conditions, to develop orchards, clean vegetable growing  areas...

Thenceforth, local farmers have searched and researched many models of  farmstead tourism, orchid and ornamental tree growing, ornamental fish raising... suiting with ecological condition and meeting market demand for the sake of  income improvement. 

Orchid growing model made by Hoang Van Minh in quarter 2, Dinh Hoa ward is a typical model. Minh's orchid garden has created an annual income of VND150-200mil. 

Or, model of growing sprout vegetables launched by Huynh Van Khai in Phu My ward has brought a stable income for him.

According to Le Van Hung, one of key movements spurring structure transfer of plants and species is movements of good farmers in production and business,  wealth making and poverty reduction. Therefore, the society at all levels have  spurred many useful movements, luring thousands of farmer households.

To accelerate development of the movements, the society in cooperation with  agencies such as the provincial Agriculture Promotion Center, Veterinary  Promotion Center and so on supports farmers technique, capital source, nursling, fertilizer and among others. 

In addition, the society has urged rich farmer families to help others develop  production and business. Efficient agricultural development is a good way for the society to solve problem of land narrowness happening.
