In preparing for sustainable development, Thuan An district is accelerated in terms of growth and investment breakthrough, enabling regional development of industry-service and trade-service. Binh Duong Newspaper reporter has interviewed Chairman Tran Thanh Liem on this perspective.

 

- What is your evaluation of resolution implementation for district’s Party Congress of the 2005-2010 term?

 

 - Our resolution implementation is in the face of general challenges; however, unity of the local Party Committee and successful leadership has resulted in smooth implementation of focal tasks from time to time. Emerging issues of planning, compensation and site clearance, security, land management, construction, environment, etc. have been resolved promptly to facilitate rapid and synchronized development despite certain socio-economic shortcomings. The economic structure transits in a right way to promote investment and effective production and trade all of which contributed to higher budget collection. In terms of spiritual life and employment, living standard of the people keeps increasing thanks to development of schools, healthcare, cultural institutions, and sports which are socialized for the needs of learning and entertainment. Targets are achieved higher than planned from social, national defense and political targets to staff training and education.

 

- What have been the driving forces for such achievements?

 

- By close commanding of provincial authority and with the help from functional agencies, obstacles are cleared out. Reformed leadership and resolution attached to real life basing on previous success have maximized potentials and forces locally.

 

Focal issues are odd out to be solved by daring measures. One of the special causes is the help from pensioners, veterans, and unity of in-service officials and the people to deploy political, socio-economic, and national defense tasks.

 

- Along with achievements, what are the on-going setbacks in Thuan An district?

 

- The effects of downturn global economy influence GDP growth, industrial production value, and agriculture growth. Some targets are missed including planning, development, and urban management which failed to keep up with urbanization. Fluctuate investment and price policies restrained construction projects. Cultural institutions are constructed slowly in some area with low investment ratio. Environment pollution and floods are resolved slowly while security, strikes and labor disputes are more complex. Official planning and staff training failed to meet demand in newer stages, especially, in grassroots.

 

- Could you please state out socio-economic orientation in the future?

 

- Binh Duong New City basically opens up chances for Thuan An district to become a new urban area as a connecting center between Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong. As the matter of fact, this time’s Party Congress has drawn out especially new political tasks to create foundation for a more modern district of industry and services.

 

In the upcoming time, advantages and potentials will be promoted for urban construction suitable to general development space of the region. Growth is maintained while resolving social issues of urbanization. Security and national defense are ensured to construct united staffs of a harmonious political system. Investment environment will be favored with spatial traffic system. The economic structure is oriented to industry, service and agriculture. Focus on services and trade will be balanced with economic structure. All forces will be maximized to help local authority achieving third rank urban area.
