To bring Binh Duong's characteristic products to the market

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Week of connecting and promoting OCOP products, characteristic products and typical rural industrial products of Binh Duong has taken place with more than 150 products and goods of nearly 60 businesses, cooperatives in the province. The products displayed and introduced have the potential to supply domestic and export distribution channels.

Upgrade producers

According to the assessment of the Organizing Committee, the Week of connecting, introducing and promoting OCOP products, characteristic products, typical industrial products of Binh Duong province in 2024 gathered and introduced achievements of producers and businesses. Thereby, promoting trade promotion activities, contributing to helping consumers correctly and fully perceive the production and business capabilities of domestic manufacturing enterprises, the quality of Vietnamese products and services, while creating opportunities for industrial and commercial production enterprises in provinces and cities to connect, learn and exchange experiences.

Production of rattan and bamboo products - a typical product of Binh Duong at the Trade Promotion and Connection Week recently held in Ho Chi Minh City. 

Coming to the display space, visitors felt the transformation of Binh Duong's typical products. More than 150 products on display included rattan, lacquer, coffee, black beans, durians, green-skinned pomelos, oranges, melon, jackfruit, pepper, fresh tofu, lingzhi mushrooms, bird's nest, mushrooms, cordyceps, black garlic... have shown that Binh Duong's products are increasingly improving in terms of process, quality, and way of approaching customers. This week’s organization has the purpose of all levels, industries, and production units in approaching distribution units, processing and exporting enterprises.

Nguyen Thuy Hang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Trade Promotion and Industrial Development: The biggest thing achieved at this Connection and Promotion Week is that cooperatives, production facilities, and businesses in Binh Duong will have more information about consumption trends of Ho Chi Minh City consumers. At the same time, to update regulations and commodity standards when bringing goods into modern supermarket systems of multinational retail corporations, key export processing enterprises, and e-commerce floors of Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Thuy Hang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Trade Promotion and Industrial Development, said that this program has the motto "Expanding trade connection opportunities - Strengthening links continue to reach out", creating connection and supporting the production and export. Businesses seek partners, expand product consumption markets, and sustainably and effectively exploit local potentials and advantages.

Speaking at the event, Ho Thi Quyen, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), said: “In the coming time, ITPC will continue to proactively coordinate with provinces and cities that have socio-economic development cooperation relations with Ho Chi Minh City to stimulate trade and investment promotion. In particular, we will pay attention to building specific cooperation programs with Binh Duong and other provinces and cities in the Southeast region in promotional activities and trade connections to support the consumption of OCOP products and special products of localities to bring practical results to businesses, cooperatives, and production facilities.

Serving green consumption

Products participating in the 2024 exhibition demonstrated production trends associated with green consumption. Accordingly, Binh Duong's production organizations focus on quality and recognition.

Vu Minh Duong, Director of Phu My A Food Production and Trading Company (Thu Dau Mot City), said: “The company produces pork rolls, beef rolls, spring rolls, sausages, spring rolls... without using preservatives or additives. The food is produced based on separate research on the antioxidant activity of banana leaves, and the processing ensures safety. We cooperate with CP Joint Stock Company for input materials and grow organic bananas ourselves to meet production needs. Coming to this week, we want to connect with domestic consumption and export sources, especially retail chains of green products and sustainable consumption."

Nguyen Y Van, in charge of sales at Thanh Loc Bamboo and Rattan Co., Ltd., said the company has high expectations for this exhibition. This is an opportunity to introduce new products made of green materials such as rattan, bamboo, and sedge to consumers and tourists, seeking more export opportunities and expanding production. Enterprises, cooperatives, farm owners, and production facilities in the province had the opportunity to exchange and connect directly with distribution enterprises and import-export focal points in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Ngoc Cuong, who works at retail sales department of Saigon Co.op, said his company is currently trading more than 1,000 products that are regional specialties from craft villages and cooperatives nationwide. This is the result of cooperation between Saigon Co.op and economic regions from a series of trade connection conferences held in recent times. Thereby helping goods to be distributed promptly and quickly, OCOP agricultural products also ensure quality and quantity, developing more diversity and richness on the shelves of Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.opFood ... Saigon Co.op has a product appraisal process and gives priority to OCOP products, creating conditions for typical local products to dominate the market.

A representative of Alibaba.com Vietnam Company said that recently, this company has coordinated with Department of Trade Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to organize e-commerce training courses in Binh Duong. It focuses on disseminating sales skills and livestream skills on e-commerce platforms. Alibaba e-commerce platform continues to support businesses and cooperatives to promote exports with preferential policies, especially those with financial or scale limitations, thereby helping to increase competitiveness. Alibaba Vietnam also supports incentives for businesses with products that have great export potential on e-commerce platforms, such as agricultural products, handicraft furniture, etc.
