To inherit the achievements, utilize the potential and advantages of the province, flexibly and creatively apply mechanisms and policies of the Central Government, Binh Duong has effectively implemented the policy of socio-economic development. This success motivated the Party, government and people in the province to strive to reach new heights in the development path.

Comprehensive development

To develop the very important achievements of the former Song Be province, over the past two decades, the Party, government and people of Binh Duong have persisted in seeking and making breakthroughs. Binh Duong decided to focus on a modern economic development strategy based on utilizing its advantages of geographical location, available resources and creating an attractive environment to attract domestic and international investment capital.  The province encouraged and created all favorable conditions for all economic sectors to invest in production business development; at the same time called and attracted investors and economic groups around the world to invest and develop together. The infrastructure system constantly received good investment, especially traffic, electricity, telecommunications infrastructures... Modern industrial parks were born to meet the demand of businesses.

From an agricultural province, Binh Duong has transformed, become a developing province with a high rate of industrialization and urbanization in the Southern Key Economic Zone. The figures of construction and development after 25 years are the clearest evidence.  It is the size of the economy increased by 104 times; budget revenue increased 75 times; population size increased nearly 5 times. Binh Duong is one of the provinces that contribute large budgets to the Central government. By the end of 2021, per capita income reached 152 million VND/person/year (nearly 7,000 USD). The province is considered to have the highest per capita income in the country.

The economic restructuring was soon implemented by Binh Duong and attained spectacular results. From a province based mainly on agriculture, up to now, the proportion of the agricultural sector is only about 3%, industry 67% and services 21%. The province has made a breakthrough in investment attraction. FDI capital alone has reached over 39 billion USD so far. The socio-economic infrastructure, transport infrastructure is more and more synchronous and modern. The rate of urbanization is increasing rapidly, reaching a rate of over 82%. A highlight of the province's urban development is one of the world’s Top 21 Intelligent Communities in the past 4 consecutive years.

Thereby, the material, cultural and spiritual lives of the people have been improved markedly.  Regarding the Party building, the building of political system also gained good results. Defence and security is maintained. Binh Duong's reputation and brand are increasingly enhanced in the country and in the world.

Growth engine for the whole country

Binh Duong implements the 11th Party Resolution, term 2020-2025, with many difficulties and challenges. However, the fourth Covid-19 wave seriously affected people's lives and production business activities of enterprises.  In that extremely difficult situation, with the help of the Central Committee and other provinces, cities, the drastic participation of the whole political system, business community, and people of all classes, Binh Duong controlled the disease and restored safe adaptive production. As a result, by the end of 2021, the province gained comprehensive results in all fields.

The results in 2021 and the ability to control the disease have created confidence for the province to implement goals and tasks in 2022 as well as for the entire 2020-2025 tenure. Speaking at the conference "Continuing the tradition, Binh Duong province on the way of 1/4 century: Achievements and prospects" held at the end of April, Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that with the awareness of opportunities and challenges in the coming time, Binh Duong Party, government and people continued to pose new challenges and realize targets by flexible and creative application of policies, understanding and application of modern scientific and technological achievements. Binh Duong will actively seek resonance and companionship from neighboring provinces, cities, countries and territories to continue reaching to new heights.

Binh Duong also strives to build a new generation industrial ecosystem associated with the 4th industrial revolution, green, smart, sustainable, inclusive development, aiming to become the center, regional and inter-regional linkage dynamics; continue to be a pioneering local model in sustainable development efforts towards smart, civilized and modern cities; together with the whole country to realize the vision and goal of turning our country into a developed, high-income, socialist-oriented country by the middle of the century.

Speaking at a meeting with Provincial Party Committee at the end of March 2022, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh pointed out that, with many potentials, comparative advantages and outstanding opportunities, Binh Duong have enough factors to strongly develop industry and services, the province should strive to become an important growth engine for the Southeast region and the whole country. To achieve the set goals, the Prime Minister asked the province to thoroughly grasp and concretize Resolution of the 13th Party Congress; effectively implement goals and tasks set out in the 5-year plan, 10-year strategy and the 11th Provincial Party Resolution with the self-reliance, self-reliance, stronger and more drastic spirit.

The Prime Minister also asked the province to continue promoting industrial restructuring towards industries with advantages and potentials based on innovation, improve the efficiency of attracting investment capital and applying science and technology; develop supporting industries, improve labor productivity; focus on digital transformation with breakthrough thinking, strategic vision, appropriate way of doing things…

Upholding the heroic revolutionary tradition, the spirit of dynamism, creativity, overcoming difficulties, believing that the Party Committee, government and people of Binh Duong will continue to successfully implement the set goals, set the new achievements on the way of development; to build Binh Duong to develop sustainably in the direction of a smart, civilized and modern city.
