Attention and caring

Due to the impact of Covid-19, in the last days of the year, Tan Uyen town Trade Union needs to propagate the prevention and control of the pandemic in enterprises as well as at grassroots trade unions. Luu Thi Tuyet Trinh, Chairwoman of Tan Uyen town Trade Union, said: “Currently, all activities to organize Tet holidays for workers are halted. We are coordinating with all levels and enterprises to urgently implement the pandemic prevention measures. We cannot count, for this year, the number of employees who stay for Tet, but the number will increase. Many workers have registered to cancel tickets to return to their hometowns and stay in Binh Duong to welcome Tet. We will update to report to all levels to support workers during Tet. The mobilization of businesses and hostel owners to offer rent exemption or reduction for employees is being deployed.”

Every year, implementing the plan of Binh Duong provincial Trade Union Standing Committee on organizing New Year care activities for union members, employees, and workers of the town, Tan Uyen town authority has presented Tet gifts to workers who are far away from their hometowns with special family circumstances cannot afford to return home to welcome Tet. In addition, coordination has been made with the locality to organize many meaningful activities during the New Year. Recently, the unit has cooperated with Nam Tan Uyen Industrial Park Joint Stock Company to organize the program of "Festival to offer Tet to workers being far from home in 2020" which attracted more than 1,000 employees to watch and cheer. The program offered 10 gifts to employees in extremely difficult circumstances at the amount of VND 10 million.

For the workers

This year, in the face of complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Labor Union of Tan Uyen town has promptly implemented the Official Letter No. 70/LDLD dated June 2, 2020 of Binh Duong provincial Trade Union on support expenditures to help employees due to the effects of Covid-19 pandemic. The unit mobilized the grassroots trade unions to support the fund for workers with extremely difficult circumstances launched by Binh Duong provincial Trade Union. Loans of VND 50 billion from the accumulated financial resources of the trade unions has been offered to support union members and workers facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 epidemic through the micro finance organization of CEP. By the deployment, 122 people borrowed the total amount of over VND 600 million. In the implementation of social distancing due to epidemics in early 2020, Tan Uyen town Trade Union has timely helped 544 union members and workers with the total amount of nearly VND 400 million. Tan Nhat Wood Production - Trading Co., Ltd. and Vietinbank have donated 11 tons of rice to support workers in difficulty in the area. One enterprise offered 200 employees the total amount of VND 200 million. Coordination has been made with a media agency to give gifts to 96 union members and employees in 3 non-public preschools.

Along with that, the Tan Uyen town Trade Union has signed with 4 units to implement welfare programs for the union members and implemented welfare programs signed by Binh Duong provincial Labor Confederation. By the implementation of the programs, more than 49,000 trade union members have enjoyed incentives and programs of providing quality products, goods and services with preferential prices of 5 to 40% reduction. On the occasion of the worker month, the town Trade Union organizes gift visits to workers having difficult circumstances, occupational diseases, and labor accidents; each part includes VND 500,000 of cash and 10kg of rice.

Luu Thi Tuyet Trinh said that in 2020, in general, the workers will face many difficulties as compared to other years. In the first months of 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, most enterprises have difficulty in production and business operations due to lack of input materials, unsold products, and no purchase orders leading to the downsizing of production, slow operations or production stoppage. Employees have to reduce working hours, take alternate leave, suspend work or terminate labor contracts, leading to a deep income decrease, and the employee's life is facing many difficulties. However, by June 2020, the efforts of enterprises and the trade union to both prevent and repel the epidemic while maintaining production and searches for markets have brought businesses to gradually recover and go into normal operation.
