Provincial Trade Unions at all levels have continued supporting laborers facing difficulties, due to Covid-19 pandemic. This aims to help laborers stabilize their lives, keep their mind in work, accompanying businesses in surmounting the current difficult period.
Being proactive in coordination
According to the assessment of provincial Labor Union, since early this year, province-based enterprises, especially small and medium-sized ones, have faced difficulties, due to Covid-19 pandemic. This has greatly affected laborers’ jobs, incomes and lives, leading to labor disputes.
Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union said that the main cause of the above situation came from employers ‘slow announcement about the adjustment plan of region-based minimum wage levels for laborers under the Government’s Decree No.90. The quality of meal for laborers was not ensured together with unreasonable arrangement on working hours from employers…In the face of the situation, provincial Trade Unions at all levels were proactive to coordinate with companies ‘directorates to boost propaganda and mobilization among laborers; asked for companies to deal with laborers ‘legitimate ideas.
Practical care
Along with handling labor disputes, provincial Trade Unions at all levels opportunely visited, supported and offered gifts to more than 3,000 laborers facing difficulties, due to Covid-19 pandemic and those with fatal illness or hit by workplace accidents, with a total expense of more than VND1.5billion. They also extracted their working budget and mobilized employers to provide laborers with support in terms of money, rice, instant noodles, masks…According to statistics, more than 300,000 laborers were supported with more than VND21billion.
Noticeably, the Workers’Month 2020 under the theme of “Following Uncle Ho’s teachings” in association with the Action Month on Labor Safety and Hygiene also took place amid Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, activities in response to these events were concretized by trade unions at all levels by such practical actions as focusing on taking care of the lives of trade unionists, laborers; commending, rewarding 43 collectives, 40 individuals with excellent achievements in Covid-19 prevention…
Nguyen Dinh Khanh, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial Labor Union has also just visited some lodging facilities and businesses in Thuan An city and Ben Cat town while donating VND190million to 20 laborers with fatal illness or hit by workplace accidents from the local fund for laborers with extremely difficult circumstances. The fund has worked since January, 2020 and it has so far offered 145 support packages worth VND1.1billion to 4 targeted groups hit by workplace accidents, occupational diseases, fatal diseases and other accidents with the support level of VND4million and VND10million for each case.
With practical deeds from provincial Labor Union and trade unions at all levels, laborers across the province have felt secure, thereby having a strong attachment to the Trade Union and employers in order to surmount difficulties together.
