Training at social demand must be associated with businesses

Update: 23-03-2015 | 11:21:27

Binh Duong needs a highly skilled workforce at businesses’ requirements during the local industrialization and modernization process. Province-based universities, colleges and junior colleges have had a coherence with businesses in training and made training at social demand.

According to Le Thanh Tung, Head of the Division of Professional Education under provincial Department of Education and Training, Binh Duong has a fast growing speed, so the province needs a strong workforce at the local demand for industrialization and modernization process. A policy of provincial People’s Committee on training at social demand is proper and it also creates favorable conditions for high and secondary school pupils to attend junior colleges. This will create hi-quality human resources for the province, contributing to solving the real situation of “redundancy of white-collar workers, lack of skillful workers”.

The whole province is now home to 18 universities, colleges, junior colleges and vocational training facilities. In the 2014-2015 academic year, there are around 46,953 students attending the schools. With such training network, the province is eligible to train a technical workforce at the local development demand.

Schools have made efforts in improving material facilities, teaching staff’s qualification and training programs at the local learning and teaching demand in the new context.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Linh Hiep, Vice-Principal of Binh Duong University for Economics and Technology said that all faculties of the school have had a coherence with businesses in training by many forms. This has contributed to enhancing the school’s quality of training and helped businesses improve the quality of human resources.

Whilst, Binh Duong Medical College is very interested in students’ employment and ability meeting employment requirements after graduation. The school has worked with medical facilities in the province to help students have better practice. Doctors and pharmacists at medical facilities in the province have been invited to give lessons at the school, helping students get more real knowledge.

Schools have also paid more attention to training at social demand as their quality of training will reflect their prestige to the society. Huynh Kim Ngan, Principal of Binh Duong Junior College of Agriculture and Forestry said that the school has regularly innovated machines and equipment for teaching. The school’s farms for practice have also been invested by provincial Department of Education and Training. Besides, the school has coordinated with businesses to make suitable programs for practice…

However, the province’s training at social demand has faced shortcomings for change. It is time a more overall socio-economic measure needs to be taken to improve the quality of human resources, according to those who are in charge of education-training sector.

Particularly, schools need to pay more attention to investment in material facilities, teaching staff, training programs; promote cooperative relations with businesses. They also need to consider and add majors at social demand; further bring into full play the model of “association in training between schools and businesses”, boost cooperation with units having the use of workforce.
