Voluntary blood donation campaign continues spreading far and wide

The voluntary blood donation campaign in the province has constantly developed in recent years. Duong Quang Toan in Thu Dau Mot city’s Phu Cuong ward is a typical example in the voluntary blood donation campaign of the province. She shared: “This is the fourth time I have done such meaningful deed, helping patients in need of blood. Every time I donate blood, I have a very happy feeling because I think I have done a meaningful deed for the society.”

Spreading the campaign

Doan Thanh Danh, Vice-Chairman of Thu Dau Mot city’s Red Cross Society said that over the past time, the voluntary blood donation movement in the city has always met and exceeded the assigned target, with more and more participants. In addition to the attention of the city’s Party Committee, People's Committee and Steering Board for voluntary blood donation, all-level Red Cross Societies of the city well realized propaganda work, boldly innovating methods of mobilization.

Along with making regular propaganda on the loudspeakers of the wards, hanging banners, posters..., the city’s Red Cross Society Association also established propaganda groups and clubs, directly going to residential areas and lodging facilities for mobilization and propaganda. The city’s Red Cross Society also cooperated with the local Labor Union, universities, colleges, companies and enterprises for propaganda and mobilization. Since then, the voluntary blood donation campaign has attracted the participation of more and more cadres, students and workers", Mr. Danh said.

The voluntary blood donation campaign has also developed in other localities. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross Society said that voluntary blood donation is a humane act, a noble action between people and people. That noble action has become a movement with strong spread, attracting a large number of people from all strata. The active participation of people from all strata has contributed to ensuring a blood source for emergency and treatment. The results of the province's blood collection have always met and exceeded the set target. In 2022, the whole province received 22,822 blood units, or 125% of the assigned target.

Donating a relatively small amount of blood does not endanger the health of the donor, but will bring great hope to those who are lying on the hospital bed in need of blood for treatment. Therefore, the noble humanistic meaning of the voluntary blood donation campaign needs to continue being replicated in the community so that this movement can be spread more and more, bringing hope to more people. “The voluntary blood donation campaign in the province has become a social activity with profound humanity, great spread and has been actively participated by a large number of people. From the drops of blood donated by volunteers, they have joined hands to share, bring joy and hope to many patients in need of blood for treatment", Mrs. Trinh shared.
