Voluntary blood donation campaign promoted

The province’s received blood amount now only meets around 80% of the blood demand for treatment, according to provincial Mobilization Board on Voluntary Blood Donation. Hence, the Mobilization Board has actively mobilized and called for people of all strata to take part in the voluntary blood donation campaign.

“Give a drop of blood, save a life”

The province’s voluntary blood donation campaign reached many considerable results over the past time. The whole province now has 108 voluntary blood donation squads with 3,498 members, 108 reserve voluntary blood donation squads with 1,178 members and a club for people with rare blood types.

The whole province last year mobilized 52 voluntary blood donation stages with more than 10,000 units of blood, the highest figure so far. To achieved the above considerable results, the Mobilization Board attached special importance to propaganda work, contributing to raising awareness of people of all strata about voluntary blood donation. Voluntary blood donation campaign in the province has grown rapidly with many individuals and organizations participating. But now, the province’s received blood amount only meets the blood demand for treatment, according to Tran Thi Lien, Deputy Head of provincial Mobilization Board on Voluntary Blood Donation. In 2013, Binh Duong will strive to mobilize and collect 13,500 units of blood under the target set by the National Mobilization Committee on Voluntary Blood Donation.

Kind-hearted people

Tran Xuan Thang, who has donated blood 64 times in TDM city’s Phu Cuong ward said that he witnessed the sacrifice of his comrades because there was no blood for transfusion. Hence, according to him, all people should give blood to save others. Not only blood receivers, blood donors will also feel happy for their noble deed.

Or, according to Vo Thi Ngoc Minh, Chairwoman of Hiep Thanh ward’s Red Cross Society who voluntarily gives blood 2 or 3 times a year, she has taken part in the voluntary blood donation as thinking that this is an practical deed. As a chairwoman of the ward’s Red Cross Society, she has also actively mobilized the local people to get involved in the voluntary blood donation campaign. Thanks to this, Hiep Thanh ward always reaches the annual targets on voluntary blood donation.

 “Give a drop of blood, save a life” is the theme of this year’s World Blood Donor Day to express the humanitarian significance and great value of blood donation. The event also aims to honor the noble deed of blood donors, and urges healthy people to voluntarily donate blood to save more lives.
