At a recent workshop on provincial planning for the period of 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, provincial leaders listened to experts and scientists sharing development orientations in the new period. Among them, there were two points with high consensus: "exploiting the space in the north to solve difficulties and challenges in southern cities and developing sustainably" and "planning southern cities to become worth-living land”.
Plenty of space for development
Speaking at the workshop, Pham Thi Nham, Deputy Director of the National Institute of Urban and Rural Planning under the Ministry of Construction said that the southern urban areas of Binh Duong province are having the sign of overload. The province needs to map out a planning and coordination direction to ensure balance and harmony to continue developing in the new period. Accordingly, Mrs.Nham said that the province’s top priority at present is to well exploit the space and potential of the northern localities to solve problems in the south in order to soon redraw the local industrial picture towards balanced and harmonious development.
After listening to the topics and opinions of experts and scientists, Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of provincial Steering Committee for Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision 2050 said that using the northern space to solve problems of southern cities is the right direction. He added that this is also one of the province’s strategic tasks, unanimously agreed by the entire political system and showing determination to implement.
Specifically, the province determined that in the period 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, the province will redraw the local industrial picture in a more appropriate and scientific direction. During this time, the province will carry out two tasks in parallel, including: Organizing industrial restructuring by relocating factories and enterprises from southern urban areas to the northern ones under regulations while promoting investment attraction of high-quality economic models in urban areas in the south.
Localities getting ready
On the last days of the year, going back to the northern provinces of the province, we recorded a sharp change of the land. Accordingly, based on the province’s planning and policies, these localities have actively invested in appropriate infrastructure systems, been ready to coordinate with relevant units in organizing and receiving factories and enterprises from the southern urban areas. As the Tet (Lunar New Year) 2023 is approaching, the construction speed of public investment projects in the districts of Bau Bang, Dau Tieng, Phu Giao, North Tan Uyen... is also accelerated.
Talking to us, Vo Thanh Giau, Chairman of Bau Bang district’s People's Committee said that the locality is currently following provincial planning to build the local own planning to ensure suitability and harmony. In addition, over the past time, the district cooperated with investors to carefully analyze potential and advantages and give appropriate development orientations. The district's goal is to basically become an urban area with harmonious development by 2030 towards industry - trade, services - modern urbanity.
With the advantage of the system of factories and enterprises attached to residential areas that have been established and operated stably, the district’s field of trade and services is also having a strong growth trend. Leading enterprises in the field of consumer goods retail, distribution and high-quality services have also come to survey, learn and will soon invest here. According to leaders of the district, it is expected that in the next 3 years, the district’s trade and services will develop strongly, fully meeting people's needs.
Although the main development direction is agriculture associated with tourism, in recent years, Dau Tieng district has actively planned a system of industrial parks and compound towards balance and harmony. Nguyen Phuong Linh, Chairman of Dau Tieng district’s People's Committee said that in addition to the task of agricultural restructuring associated with tourism development, in the coming time, the district will also coordinate with relevant units to receive a number of factories and enterprises in the field of rubber latex processing, wood processing, livestock processing... The development of industry in this field will help the locality exploit its potential and advantages, thereby helping attract people in order to continue towards the goal of building Dau Tieng homeland into a modern urban area.
Phu Giao, North Tan Uyen district with great advantages in developing specialty fruit areas are also expected to develop their agro-processing industry for export purposes. In recent years, these localities have shown high determination in persistently building a green and sustainable economy. This will be the basic foundation for projects developing smart village models associated with garden tourism and ecotourism along the Dong Nai River to have the opportunity to thrive in the future.
