The movement has helped raise the lives of the local youth while contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development.

Tri and his family’s tangerine orchard

Being patient to overcome difficulties

Just being at the age of 20, Cao Huu Tri residing in Phu Giao district’s Tam Lap commune is the owner of a three-hectare plantation on rubber and fruit trees.

Tri said that because of poverty, he followed his father to get involved in land reclamation for production after fulfilling his 8th grade program in 2008. With small investment capital, he and his father only grew 2 hectares of rubber trees and more than 1 hectare of various fruit trees like sweet tangerine, green-skin pomelo…In 2012, his father had to leave the plantation for Phuoc Vinh township, due to illness. Since then, the plantation has been managed and tended by him.

Realizing that growing sweet tangerine brings hi-economic efficiency, Tri has changed to the model. After five-year development, his plantation on rubber and tangerine trees has brought his family the annual income of more than VND380mln.

Although being busy with faming doing, Tri has still actively got involved in the local youth movements.

According to Le Minh Hoang, Chairman of Tam Lap communal Farmers Association, Cao Huu Tri’s production model is very suitable to the local real situation. Seeing Tri’s efforts overcoming difficulties, the communal Farmers Association over time created favorable conditions for his family to get loans for production development in order to rise up out of poverty and secure stable income.

Going to the countryside to do business

After graduating his university training course in HCM city in 2010, Vu Van Dong decided to return his home town in Phu Giao district’s An Binh commune to set up himself in business.

He continued tending his three-hectare rubber garden in accordance with proper technical process, so the productivity and quality of the garden was higher than the previous years. In recent years, he has begun getting involved in breeding chickens and pigs to have additional stable income when the price of rubber latex is on reduction.

He has bravely applied new sci-tech advancements into breeding pigs and chickens. With few market fluctuations in recent 2 years, his model of breeding pigs and chickens has brought hi-economic efficiency. On average, his family can secure nearly VND300mln a year from the above agricultural models.

Dong has also got involved in many other models. Possibly speaking, knowledge learnt at university, efforts by himself plus his family’s foundation will help Dong affirm himself and gain current success.

With achievements done, two young farmers Tri and Dong have been selected to take part in exchange programs with the local youth, aiming to replicate the youth model with the local movement of “Youth establishing their position in life, setting themselves up in business”.
