Zealously participating in the construction of urban civilization

Promoting achieved results, provincial Youth Union Standing Committee continued to launch the movement “Binh Duong youth participate in urban civilization construction” with the aim to raise union member’s awareness, boost volunteering spirit of the youth when participating in the construction of urban civilization.

Di An town Youth Union with the “Clean sidewalks, beautiful street corners” model

Di An town Youth Union has been a typical unit in the urban civilization construction movement. At seven wards of the town, Youth Union branches established volunteer youth groups for legal dissemination and urban civilization construction. Particularly, Di An ward and Dong Hoa ward Youth Union branch have actively deployed forces to control traffic on Ly Thuong Kiet and Tran Hung Dao street; simultaneously encouraged people not to encroach sidewalks, dispose of garbage in right places, preserve sidewalk cleanness. In addition, Di An ward Youth Union branch implemented the model of “Clean sidewalks, beautiful street corners” integrated into criteria such as street corners, sidewalks with no garbage, no wastewater, no sidewalk encroachment; equipped with trash, green spaces. In Mar 2016, Di An town Youth Union inaugurated “Installation of free advertisement boards” in Dong Hoa ward; introduced “Youth alleys” in Binh Thang ward, and sanitized and removed illegal advertisements on Nguyen An Ninh street in Di An ward.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Deputy Secretary of provincial Youth Union, said: “Youth Union branches have actively participated in the movement, especially administrating key streets. Therefore, in 2016, provincial Youth Union will launce the movement “Young people build up civilized roads” under new criteria, like planting trees, or encouraging people to plant trees in residential areas to create green space; mobilize people to practice thrift, fight against waste in weddings, funerals and consumption; organize more green volunteering activities…”

On the other hand, according to Ms. Mai, Youth Union branches will cooperate to mobilize people to donate land for road expansion in residential areas; mobilize social resources for road concretization and lighting; and focus on dissemination of traffic safety and building traffic culture.

Realizing the movement of urban civilization construction, provincial Youth Union launched the model of “Typical youth lodging house”, awarded "dream rooms". In the future, provincial Youth Union will open more training courses on integration culture, civilization; established café 5S model (café of clean, books, comfortable, share, reunion), and start the model “Youth knowledge library” to bring books, newspapers and magazines to 10,000 young people in remote areas of the province to build a reading culture and disseminate contents of urban civilization. Especially, activities on volunteer Saturdays to solve administrative procedures of people in lodging houses in Di An town with these contents: assumed trial, legal consultancy, assisting identity card, temporary residence paper procedures, answering questions relating to the administrative procedures…
