10-year implementation of projects helping the blind rise up out of poverty under review

Early July 31, provincial Blind Association held a conference to review the 10-year implementation of two projects on solidarity-rising-equality and integration from 2007 to 2017; employment and hunger eradication-poverty reduction from 2008 to 2018 and partially sum up its activities in the first half of 2018. Attending the event were Pham Viet Thu, Chairman of Vietnam Blind Association and Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.

Under the two projects, the spiritual and material lives of the blind in the province were improved over the past ten years. Many blind households rose up out of poverty. Besides, 5 massage facilities, Phu Loi broom-making facility and 7 bamboo toothpicks under the association reached nearly VND27billion, VND8billion and more than VND1.3billion in total revenue. They also generated jobs for 105 blind people with the average income of VND3.3million per capita per month…

Speaking at the conference, Mr.Hung spoke highly of the efforts by officials and members of the association while wanting that they will be always self-confident to integrate into the community for a better life. He added that the local Party, government and donors will continue helping them rise up in life.

On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Blind Association and provincial People’s Committee awarded 22 certificates of merit to outstanding collectives and individuals in the realization of the above projects. Donors also presented gifts worth VND300,000 each to 77 members.
