Early June 27, 100 families of trade unionists and workers in the province were very happy to be commended by provincial Labor Union and Women's Union for their exemplary role in building up family happiness, raising well-behaved and successful children, setting good examples by following the Party and the State’s policies and laws on the occasion of Vietnamese Family Day (June 28th) at provincial Labor Cultural Center.

Setting goals, nurturing dreams

The 100 families attending the conference were outstanding worker families selected by trade unions at all levels. They deserved recognition for overcoming numerous difficulties in their careers, excelling in their duties at companies, and raising well-behaved, academically successful children. To achieve a happy family, they set daily goals to nurture their small families.

Mr. and Mrs. Le Thi Tuyet Loan, both working at Dai Hoa Co., Ltd. in Tan Uyen city are one such family. They met 14 years ago, have two grown daughters and have faced many challenges. In 2016, their business encountered obstacles, leaving them without money to support their children. During these tough times, mutual understanding and support were crucial. Mrs. Loan shared that both she and her husband took jobs at the company just to have a monthly income to support their children. However, after some time with the company, they received salary increases and promotions, leading to higher incomes. The welfare policies of the company’s trade union local and directorate partially helped improve the lives of many families working at the company”.

Eighteen years ago, Nguyen Thi Hoa left Nghe An province for Binh Duong with nothing. She rented a room and worked in the shoe production department of Hai My Co., Ltd. in Thuan An city with a low salary. Her dream at that time was to work hard and send a little money each month to support her elderly parents. Owning a house or a nice car in Binh Duong seemed impossible. However, she believed that happiness is self-created and required set goals to strive for. Her first goal of saving enough money to buy land was achieved.

After many years of work, she got married to a colleague and they set a new goal to upgrade from 20 square meters to 40 square meters of land. "To buy land and build a house in Thu Dau Mot city’s Phu My ward, we had to borrow money and pay in installments for a long time, sometimes not even buying decent clothes. Today, I am grateful for my workplace and the company's trade union local, which has greatly supported workers, with such significant activities as building schools for workers' children, supporting housing and transportation costs", Mrs. Hoa said.

Propagandizing, supporting workers to build up happy families

Besides these 100 exemplary families, thousands of other workers in the province have built up happy families. Companies ensure salaries and jobs while many trade unions have established funds for interest-free loans, given material and spiritual support, and healthcare for workers. Provincial People's Committee and local authorities have also allocated land and funds to build tens of thousands of affordable social housing units for workers. Provincial Labor Union has constantly mobilized social resources to support workers in need and build "Trade Union Homes".

Additionally, provincial Trade Unions at all levels have conducted activities to educate workers on raising children and building up happy families. Nguyen Kim Loan, Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union shared that for many years, provincial leaders have prioritized activities to educate, nurture and honor families, creating the society’s significant interest. Provincial Trade Unions and Women's Unions at all levels have always accompanied trade unionists and workers, frequently caring for their material, spiritual and health needs and organizing many activities focusing on building up happy families.

Particularly, provincial trade unions at all levels consistently support migrant workers, focusing on protecting their legitimate rights and interests and caring for their material and spiritual lives. They regularly organize talks and forums on building up happy families, family day events in association with cultural activities, promoting the values of traditional Vietnamese families while selectively embracing advanced family values in a developing society.

Over the past time, provincial Trade Unions and Women's Unions at all levels cared for the material, cultural and spiritual lives of workers by organizing family events, cultural and educational activities, training and counseling programs on reproductive health, dissemination of gender equality and family planning to help workers gain knowledge for better healthcare to work effectively, improve the quality of life.
