Passionate dream weaving

Students everywhere have chosen an exciting journey for themselves, in which many have packed up and set off to distant lands. With passionate hearts, many have chosen to participate in the Green Summer Campaign to exchange, learn, and contribute their youth to the community. This year, the Green Summer Campaign in Binh Duong is even more special with the participation of Vietnamese students in Singapore with the program of "Weaving Dreams - Fulfilling Aspirations."

Vietnamese Student Association in the province and Vietnamese Student Association in Singapore have organized many meaningful volunteer activities at Hoa Loc Primary School, Minh Hoa commune, Dau Tieng district.

For the beloved fellowship

Carry out the assignment of the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Students' Association regarding the coordination and support of activities between the Vietnam Students' Association in provinces and cities with the Vietnam Students' Association abroad; at the same time, respond to the theme "Youth Volunteer Year" launched by the Central Youth Union, this summer the Secretariat of the Vietnam Students' Association in Binh Duong province has coordinated with the Secretariat of the Vietnam Students' Association in Singapore to organize the Green Summer Volunteer Program with the theme "Weaving Dreams – Fulfilling Aspirations."

At the beginning of the journey, nearly 40 students from 2 units came to Hoa Loc Primary School, Minh Hoa commune, Dau Tieng district, one of the remote schools in the province. This place is home to many students of Cham ethnic group or "Vietnamese Cambodian" without personal documents, living on floating villages on Dau Tieng lake. In order to promote the spirit of "For beloved younger siblings" among the levels of the association and each member, students dedicate to children in difficult circumstances, along with the support of sponsors, the Student Union of 2 units has donated 100 gifts including school bags, rice, milk... to 100 students in difficult circumstances; provided 20 study corners for 20 students with particularly difficult circumstances and 1 children's bookshelf for Hoa Loc Elementary School. In addition to delivering projects, gifts, and volunteering, the Green Summer Campaign also organizes nutritious lunches for the children, organizes lively activities and games for them, and plants trees for the school.

Nguyen Song Thao Huong, a student studying abroad in Singapore, shared: "Being able to go and experience the activities for beloved younger siblings, I was deeply touched and desired to contribute to the community building and development; taking care of children who still face many difficulties to bring them motivation to study and joy in the summer days."

Joint efforts of community building-up

At the end of the volunteer program at Hoa Loc Elementary School, the Green Summer soldiers visited the Provincial Administrative Center and the Intelligent Operations Center (IOC); met with provincial leaders. Here, you were introduced to an overview of Binh Duong as well as the policies to attract high-quality human resources in the locality; at the same time, you expressed and shared your thoughts about Binh Duong and the Green Summer Campaign in Binh Duong with the provincial leaders.

Thanh said: ”This is the first time I have participated in the Green Summer Campaign in Binh Duong. The program has left a lot of good impressions on me as I have had the opportunity to participate in meaningful activities, meet dynamic, intelligent, and professional Binh Duong students, and have the opportunity to learn from each other. I hope that in the future, the two units will continue to organize more meaningful activities like this.”

As part of the Green Summer Campaign, the Vietnamese Student Association in Singapore and clubs, teams, and groups at universities and colleges in the province also have exchange activities and share work experience. In parallel, the units also coordinate with the Engineer Officer School to organize the "Exchange program for Vietnamese and international officers, soldiers, and trainees at the Engineer Officer School". Participating in the program, you have exchanged cultural performances, joined games, and had a campfire with Laotian and Cambodian exchange students.

Mr. Le Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Student Association of the province, said: "The Vietnam Student Association in Singapore and the Student Association of Binh Duong province are two affiliated units, coordinating activities. During the past period, the two units have organized some activities in the form of online events. And the Green Summer program "Building Dreams - Building Aspirations" is the first program where the two units officially meet and carry out meaningful and practical projects, contributing to spreading the spirit of volunteerism and participating in community building. I hope that in the future, the two units will continue to connect the strength of the youth to contribute to supporting students in difficult areas. In the immediate future, the two units will sign a memorandum of understanding to have academic activities, volunteering, and exchanges with each other every year. At the same time, we also hope to spread this model to students studying in other countries.”

 

The Vietnamese Student Association in Singapore is the only student organization representing the Vietnamese student community in Singapore, established with the support of the Vietnamese Liaison Committee in Singapore. In 2019, the association was officially recognized by the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Student Association through the first Congress of the Vietnamese Student Association in Singapore. Over the past 5 years, the association has attracted more than 9,000 students living and studying in Singapore to participate in its activities.
