Press agencies accompany trade unions and workers

Update: 22-06-2024 | 14:50:08

Binh Dương Newspaper, Binh Duong Radio and Television Station, along with other press agencies nationwide, have actively promoted, mobilized and gathered workers, contributing to building up an increasingly strong working class and trade union organization.

Contributing to information dissemination

After 99 years of development, the revolutionary press of Vietnam, founded and led by President Ho Chi Minh, has always accompanied revolutionary struggles, significantly contributing to the cause of building and defending the country. Along this journey, press agencies have also consistently accompanied the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Binh Duong provincial Labor Union, acting as a bridge to convey the Party's guidelines, the State's policies & laws and the tasks of labor unions to trade unionists and workers while reflecting the voices, proposals and recommendations of trade unionists and workers to the Party, State and labor union organizations.

Provincial Labor Union awards the certificates of merit to journalists for their significant contributions to the local workers’movement

Nguyen Tan Dat, Vice Chairman of provincial Labor Union stated that trade union communication work has been effectively implemented. To provide information to press agencies promptly and quickly, provincial Labor Union has established a Zalo group with nearly 40 journalists and reporters from press agencies in and out of the province. The amount of information published in the press agencies about the activities of Binh Duong provincial Labor Union has continuously increased, currently averaging about 30 articles per month. Many articles delve deeply into various aspects of life, employment and efforts to care for and protect the legitimate rights, benefits of trade unionists and workers…This task has met information needs, creating a spillover effect within the community.

Annually, provincial Labor Union focuses on signing agreements to promote information in local newspapers, television station and labor union publications. Specifically, they have signed agreements to publish a special "Workers - Labor Union" page in Binh Duong Newspaper every Saturday; coordinated with Binh Duong Radio and Television Station to maintain the broadcast of 52 "Accompanying Workers" segments on FM radio; signed agreements with the Labor and Trade Union Magazine, Labor Newspaper, and several other press agencies to promote workers’ movements and labor union activities. Notably, in 2023, during the labor union congresses, leaders, journalists and editors from press agencies responsibly and opportunately informed important aspects of the congress.

Further accompanying

According to Mr. Dat, in the future, the tasks of all-level trade unions will become increasingly heavy. Besides many advantages, all-level trade unions will face numerous new difficulties and challenges. The task of representing, caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of trade unionists and workers will continue being prioritized to improve their material and spiritual lives, ensuring that they benefit from the development of the locality and the country, commensurate with their contributions. These tasks will also contribute to building up a modern, strong Vietnamese working class and a strong Vietnamese labor union, creating a prosperous and happy Binh Duong.

To fulfilling their tasks, provincial Labor Union and its officials hope for continued collaboration and greater support from leaders, journalists, and editors from press agencies in and out of the province in all their activities. Towards the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024), provincial Labor Union has issued plans to organize and implement activities throughout the system, including implementing all directives from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. These include expressing gratitude to labor union officials who have significantly contributed to the workers' movement and labor union activities over periods; coordinating with provincial Women's Union to honor 100 exemplary worker and civil servant families; organizing a collective wedding party for 10 worker couples who registered their marriage, but couldn't afford to organize wedding parties; honoring exemplary workers; honoring 95 outstanding labor union chairpersons.

“Provincial Labor Union hopes that journalists from press agencies will be the wings for trade unionists and workers across the province, especially those facing difficulties and those living away from home, enabling them to rise up in life, stay connected with the labor union and together building up a warm home in Binh Duong", said Mr. Dat.

During the recent Workers' Month, journalists from press agencies actively followed every alley and boarding house, regardless of day or night, rain or shine, to accompany Binh Duong labor union officials in reaching out to workers. Press agencies promptly discovered, commended, encouraged, honored, and replicated exemplary models in labor, production and learning. All these quiet efforts have contributed to affirming the position and role of all-level labor unions, creating consensus among trade unionists and workers; spreading the positive image of trade unions, affirming that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has been a solid mainstay for trade unionists and workers; a place worthy of their trust.
