A meaningful and joyful Tet

During the  traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2014, many Youth Unions and companies took initiative in organizing a series of activities in celebration of Party and Lunar New Year 2014 for Youth Union members and young workers, bringing them a significant and joyful Tet.

Spring welcomed everywhere

In TDM city, the Youth Union of Dinh Hoa held an art performance, folk games and awarded “Xuan mo uoc” (Dream in spring) scholarships worth VND800,000 each to 13 poor-but-excellent pupils.

Many fun-filled activities were also organized during the festive night celebrating the Lunar New Year 2014 in Phu Tho ward. On this occasion, provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association awarded 10 gifts worth VND250,000 each to the poor, helping them enjoy Tet.

This Tet, the Youth Union of provincial Junior College of Arts and Culture organized a delegation to visit the elderly, the disabled, orphans and disadvantaged people at Tu Tam Nhan Ai social support center in Thuong An commune’s hamlet 5 in Tan Uyen district. The delegation also donated VND3.5mln from the school’s teaching staff, students and donors to the center.

Lam Ai Phuoc, Secretary of Tan My commune’s Youth Union in Tan Uyen district said that the commune’s Youth Union also held an art performance in celebration of Party and Lunar New Year 2014 with many special items. On this occasion, the Youth Union presented 2 gifts to youngsters with difficult circumstances and 10 other gifts worth VND150,000 each to its affiliates. It is known tha the program absorbed nearly 350 local people.

As part of activities welcoming the Lunar New Year 2014, Tan Vinh Hiep commune in Tan Uyen district kicked off the 7th competition for propaganda teams on revolutionary songs with the theme of “Shine of Vietnamese motherland”. Participating teams performed items in praise of Uncle Ho, Vietnamese youth’s tradition, nation’s sea and islands, Tan Uyen and Binh Duong…

Prior to that, the commune also organized a competition telling stories about late President Ho Chi Minh’s exemplary morals, thereby educating the local youth about national pride and helping express their respect to great Uncle Ho.

Tet for immigrant laborers

During the traditional Tet festival 2014, provincial Youth Union took 1,000 laborers with difficult circumstances to their hometown for Tet while extracting its working budget to support around 300 bus tickets worth VND300mln for trade unionists to return home to celebrate Tet with their relatives.

Province-based companies, namely Thep Nam Kim Steel Joint Stock Co., Binh Duong Garment Co.Ltd., Thien Nam Fibre Joint Stock Co., Chi Hung Footwear Co…, also got involved in organizing trips and offering bus tickets for nearly 29,000 laborers with difficulties to return home for Tet. For example, Binh Duong Garment Co.Ltd. took 970 workers home for Tet and organized art performance exchanges in celebration of Party and Lunar New Year 2014…

With many other financial resources, provincial Support Center for Young Employees held a program named “Chuyen xe nghia tinh-Chia sẻ yêu thương” (Sentimental trip-Sharing love and compassion) with nearly 200 bus tickets offered to needy workers back their hometowms for Tet.

The Center also teamed up with the Youth Union of Ben Cat district and the Trade Union of Ben Cat district-based Industrial Parks to kick off a spring festival for young workers with many significant activities, comprising of a talk show on “Young workers and culture on Tet days”, a contest on five-fruit tray arrangement, an art performance…The program also offered 42 free bus tickets to young workers with difficult circumstances in the central provinces. Nearly 2,000 laborers came to the program.

In addition, the Youth Union of Ben Cat district in collaboration with  the district’s Center for Culture-Information and Sports, Women’s Union held a spring festival for young workers with such meaningful activities as folk games, “banh tet” (cylindrical glutinous rice cake)-cooking contest, five-fruit tray arrangement…

A Tet meal program was also organized at the sub-unions for young workers in Thuan An town’s wards of Thuan Giao, An Phu, Binh Hoa and An Thanh on December 30 of lunar calendar.

Whilst, the Youth Union of Hiep Thanh ward in TDM city presented 90 gifts, including rice, instant noodle, soya sauce…, to laborers who could not return their hometowns to celebrate Tet.

Dat Cuoc commune in Tan Uyen also got animated with many Tet programs for young workers, comprising of a get-together “Celebrating Lunar New Year together with young workers”, art performances, a fashion contest with the theme of “Joining hands to protect a green planet”…

Tet also came to the local lodging facilities. Heads of sub-unions for lodging young workers and proprietors organized year-end parties and offered Tet gifts to lodgers, contributing to bringing them a cozy and happy Tet…
