Additionally 30,000 employees needed for 2 year’s ending quarters

Update: 04-06-2024 | 15:12:35

The overall labor market situation in the first six months of 2024 is characterized by a high demand for workers from businesses. In the past month of May, many companies still had the need to recruit thousands of both unskilled and skilled workers. Some localities have recently organized job fairs to assist businesses in finding a workforce.

Businesses continue to consistently hire workers

During the recent Workers' Month, in addition to focusing on providing both material and spiritual support for workers, many localities and businesses have also integrated job recruitment programs. A notable example is Ben Cat City, which organized a job fair attracting 20 participating companies with an urgent need to recruit approximately 1,000 workers. Most businesses require manual labor, aged between 18-40, without requiring a degree. Thousands of workers participating in the event have had direct dialogues with businesses regarding job opportunities, salary levels, additional benefits, and accompanying policies, enabling both workers and businesses to have a collective voice. As a result, hundreds of workers have been directly recruited.

According to statistics from the Ben Cat City Labor Federation, the number of businesses in need of labor recruitment currently reaches thousands. Among them, there are companies that simultaneously recruit over a thousand workers, but from the beginning of the year until now, they have only been able to recruit a few hundred people. These businesses require a large number of general laborers, mainly in the garment and leather footwear industries. Since March 2024, Tans Vietnam Co., Ltd. (My Phuoc 1 Industrial Park) has been recruiting 200 skilled laborers in sewing, technical staff in sewing, and inventory control staff, but the quantity is still insufficient.

Some large enterprises are investing in Binh Duong and are in need of a large number of workers, such as Lego Group (Denmark) needing to recruit 5,000 workers, Chi Hung Co., Ltd needing to recruit 3,000 workers. From the beginning of the year until now, Timberland Co., Ltd has also recruited 3,000 workers. To attract human resources, many businesses are offering relatively high income levels along with attractive allowances.

In localities such as Thuan An city, Di An city, and Tan Uyen city, there is still a high demand for hundreds of manual laborers in industries such as garment, footwear, wood processing, electronics, and mechanics. Currently, Apparel Far Eastern Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park) is recruiting 150 garment workers, 15 sample garment workers, and 15 quality control workers. In addition to offering a relatively high basic salary, along with a monthly allowance of approximately 700,000 VND, a bonus of 2 million VND for new garment workers, and a seniority bonus, this company also ensures other welfare benefits. The Mechanical Engineering Joint Stock Company (located in Tan Binh Ward, Di An City) is currently in need of a large number of male and female workers, with no experience required. Upon joining the company, employees will receive professional training. The company also offers a salary range of 7.5 to 12 million VND  per person per month.

Large enterprises such as Hai My Co., Ltd., Chi Hung Co., Ltd., Shyang Hung Cheng Co., Ltd., and Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. are still recruiting hundreds of workers every month. Mr. Mai Phu Hung, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dĩ An City), stated that although the market has not fully recovered as before, the company has received more orders and requires more labor in early 2024. Currently, the company needs to recruit an average of 350 workers per month, ensuring income and allowances.

Persisting large demands

The labor recruitment situation at the Provincial Employment Service Center is still ongoing, with continuous demand from businesses in all invested industries in Binh Duong province. Among them, the manufacturing sectors that require a large workforce are primarily focused on the garment, furniture, and leather footwear industries. Prominent companies currently recruiting a large number of workers include Rochdale Spears Limited Liability Company, Kaiser Wood Industry Limited Liability Company, and Accasette May Limited Liability Company. Although the demand for unskilled labor has decreased compared to the early months of the year, it remains significantly higher than the same period last year.

During the first six months of the year, many businesses have a high demand for recruiting a large number of unskilled and skilled laborers.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Deputy Director of the Provincial Employment Service Center, stated: "To meet recruitment needs, the center has disseminated all recruitment information from businesses to workers, especially those receiving unemployment benefits. In addition, the center has also sent recruitment information to all provinces to raise awareness among workers in other provinces about the labor demand of businesses in Binh Duong."

According to the statistics from the provincial Employment Service Center in the first six months of the year, there were approximately 3,210 businesses recruiting around 40,854 workers in the province. Among them, about 5,000 workers had specialized skills, while the rest were general laborers. It is projected that in the last six months of the year, the demand for labor recruitment by businesses will decrease compared to the beginning of the year, but it will still be around 20,000 - 30,000 workers, significantly higher than the same period last year. The current recruitment trend of businesses, according to the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, is focusing on skilled labor and trained workers to meet immediate production needs instead of providing further training. However, the skilled labor supply in Binh Duong province is currently insufficient to meet market demands.

Mr. Pham Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, stated: "To address the labor shortage issue, the department has instructed the Provincial Employment Service Center to connect with the national network of employment service centers to attract labor from other localities to work in Binh Duong. The department also closely connects the labor supply and demand between small-scale production enterprises that are reducing their workforce and larger-scale enterprises that are expanding and in need of recruitment. In addition, the department has collaborated with vocational training institutions, intermediate schools, colleges, and universities that are linked to businesses to introduce qualified students and graduates to enterprises.”
