Benefits of social insurance to be expanded for the public as Law on Health Insurance amended

From January 01, 2015 on, new features of Law on Health Insurance shall be applied to benefit insurance policy participants

They shall be offered more benefits from and on January 01, 2015 when the amended Law on Health Insurance comes into effects. This is related to millions of health insurance customers.

Talking to us, leaders of medical stations informed that they would comply with all regulations on services, medicines and administrative reforms to reduce health servicing time and payment of hospitalization fees to satisfy the public.

The amended Law breakthroughs to international integration and benefit expansion for health insurance customers.

It is especially beneficiary to the poor and nearly poor families, ethnic communities living in socio-economic regions of economic difficulties, people living on islands for the whole public health insurance. Notably, the regulations on 5% insurance co-payments to the poor, people of social supports, and ethnic people living in regions of economic difficulties.

The regulations on insurance co-payments of 20% for relatives of families of revolutionary contribution including biological fathers, mothers, spouses of martyrs, and people of martyr supporting merit were aboblished.

The insurance co-payments of 20% was reduced to 5% for relatives of families of revolutionary contribution and families near poverty.

The new good feature of the Law was that Health Insurance would pay all health service costs for patients of 5 and more consecutive years of health insurance policies for the payments higher than total minimum payments of 6 months at work.

By the Law, non-staying patients shall not be offered with 30% co-payments. Meantime, stay-in patients for cross regions shall be offered more benefits.

Many expressed their delight at fee exemption upon visiting hospitals.
