Highlighting the saying of Uncle Ho of “Emulation is patriotism, and patriots must emulate”, Thuan An district’s Binh Chuan commune Veteran Society’s members have positively joined in emulation movements, contributing to take the society into a typical unit in the district.
Until now, the communal Veteran Society has 151 members, 55 of whom are party members. Thanks to upholding movement activities, the society has reached many good achievements of mobilizing local residents to engage in the movements of “All people unite to build cultural life in residential areas” and “All people protect national security”. The society’s members have contributed to take Binh Chuan into a locality leading in the movement of making rural roads. For example, since 2005, the society’s members have mobilized local people and businesses to repair and upgrade 11 rural roads with the total length of over 4.2km worth over VND278mil.
In the first 9 months of this year, the society mobilized to repair 6 rural roads worth VND102mil.
Another achievement of the society is that its members have engaged in patrols, inspections to keep local order and security. Since the start of this year, more than 300 members have joined in 150 patrols. As a result, they dissolved 31 cases of public disorder, arrested 49 crimes and so on. In addition, the society has in cooperation with communal mass bodies excelled joint activities, helping more than 70 wrongdoers become good people.
As for the movement of homebased business development, the society has always paid attention to poor members to improve their life. Up to now, 55% of members have enjoyed a fair living standard.
According to Nguyen Huynh Long, chairman of the society, the society’s members have always raised responsibility and solidarity in the locality. Besides, after the launching of “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples” mobilization, the society members’ awareness has been improved significantly whilst the society’s emulation movements have reaped great response from members, contributing to excel local tasks of socio-economic development and national defense.
