Binh Duong and the US’s Nebraska state have opportunities for vigorous development cooperation

*MoU on cooperation between Binh Duong and Nebraska state inked

Early July 12, Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation received Jim Pillen, Governor of the US’s Nebraska State and his delegation. Also attending the reception were Mai Hung Dung, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee and leaders of a number of relevant departments and agencies in the province.

At the reception, Mr. Loi expressed his pleasure to welcome the Governor and his delegation. He briefly informed the delegation of the local situation as well as potential and advantages. Accordingly, Binh Duong is a locality next to Ho Chi Minh city - the economic center of the country. The province is now home to about 3 million people and is the industrial center of the country. Currently, there are 65 countries and territories investing in Binh Duong with total capital of over US$ 40 billion. Among them, the US ranks tenth.

The Secretary of provincial Party Committee hopes that in the coming time, Binh Duong province and Nebraska state will promote development cooperation in the fields of education - training, agriculture, urban traffic construction, healthcare...

Mr. Jim Pillen, Governor of Nebraska state thanked provincial leaders for their warm welcome and hospitality to the delegation while saying that the two sides have great potential and opportunities to develop cooperation together. Especially, agriculture, public services, finance, insurance, education... are fields with great potential for development of the two localities.

At the reception, Mr. Minh hoped that after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on establishing cooperative relations, Binh Duong province and Nebraska state will have opportunities to cooperate and develop more strongly, especially in the potential fields of education - training, healthcare, agriculture, urban traffic, public administration...

*On the morning of the same day, Binh Duong province and Nebraska state signed a MoU on cooperation between the two localities.

The event was attended by Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council.

Signing the MoU will contribute to consolidating and developing the friendly cooperative relationship in many aspects between Binh Duong province and Nebraska state on the basis of conformity with the scope of functions, tasks and powers of the sides in accordance with the laws of each country and international treaties that Vietnam and the US are members.

According to the MoU, the two sides will strengthen the friendly relationship and expand cooperation activities in the fields of planning, infrastructure development, urban construction, economic development, science and technology, healthcare and education.

In the immediate future, the two sides will give priority to promoting cooperation activities in science - technology, trade promotion and investment cooperation in the fields of industrial manufacture and high-tech services, education - training, improvement of high quality human resources and supply value chains. The two sides will jointly create all favorable conditions for business delegations of the two localities to learn and strengthen trade and investment promotion activities in accordance with the potential and strengths of each side. The two sides will make joint efforts to build up a sustainable relationship, on the basis of cooperation results and join hands to contribute to the socio-economic development of each side.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Mr. Minh said that with the establishment of cooperation relationship with Nebraska state, Binh Duong province wishes to strengthen further cooperation with the state with focus being to promote activities on scientific and technical cooperation, trade promotion and investment cooperation in the fields of industrial production and high-tech services, education and training, improvement of human resources and supply value chains, supporting businesses of the two sides to contribute to the socio-economic development of the two localities.
