Methodical research, lessons learned from advanced cities in the world has helped Binh Duong New City (BDNC) to grow up and attain outstanding results, effectively solve a series of highly challenging contemporary problems. The urban boundaries of urban development are expanded further in the direction of concentrated industrial parks such as: VSIP 2, expanded VSIP 2, My Phuoc, Nam Tan Uyen... In areas where universities are located, the innovation ecosystem is methodically built, with many business incubators, Techlabs, Fablabs, experimental workshops for startups that were built and shared with the community.

If anyone has lived in Binh Duong for a long time, they will clearly feel the spectacular, remarkable and surprising changes at BDNC. Nguyen Van An, Chairman of People's Committee of Hoa Phu Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, said: “In 2006, BDNC was still a deserted land, sparsely populated, downgraded roads, people mainly lived on agriculture. Then there was a miraculous change. In particular, this urban area has become a place to settle down for many new, young, dynamic and creative residents. Along with that, people have also changed their occupations into service sector. After 12 years of construction, residents can now enjoy utilities of BDNC, from infrastructure to development space. Utilities for each residential area are basically complete. Namely, close to Hoa Loi social housing area, many types of service are developing. Recently, people enjoy cultural activities held regularly at BDNC. This has also brought Hoa Phu ward to a new height, in harmony with the development of BDNC."

For those who come to Binh Duong for the first time, it is surprise and admiration. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Director of Hai Phong City Department of Construction, as visiting Binh Duong New City, said: “We really admire the vision of Binh Duong province's leadership. There are just few cities having modern and model planning like BDNC. BDNC has high connectivity to localities and industrial zones in the province. Commercial and service zones are well planned. From the Administrative Center, the convention center to the WTC BD, high-rise residential areas, to financial streets... all are built in a modern and classy way”. According to Nguyen Thanh Hung, currently, although the occupancy rate is not high, it is inevitable because BDNC was planned and developed with a long-term vision. Hai Phong has been an industrial city for decades, but still wants to learn Binh Duong’s experience, especially in the planning of functional subdivisions, model housing areas for workers...

New destination of international events

In line with the right direction, BDNC has been fulfilling well its role as a kernel in the balanced economic development in order to narrow the gap in the proportion between industry and commercial services in the economic structure of Binh Duong. WTC BD has been a multi-functional complex up to now, including: shopping mall, pedestrian streets, office space, hotels and restaurants, central square, exhibition center... to realizing the strategy of " Binh Duong New City- a city of science, education and high-quality services".

Huynh Dinh Thai Linh, Director of WTC BD Center, said that the most encouraging thing was that during the two pandemic years, WTC appreciated WTC BD’s efforts to overcome difficulties. According to Linh, one of the outstanding results since the beginning of 2021 is to hold more than 16 events of exhibition, trade fair, convention, conference... on an international scale, connected with 23 markets around the world, along with many cultural activities. In particular, WTC BD has been selected as the venue for Europe's Green Technology Week in Southeast Asia with the participation of many leaders and consulates of European countries in Southeast Asia to communicate the green technology development, emission reduction... BDNC is also selected by ICF as the venue to announce model intelligent cities of the world; this shows the prestige and attraction of Binh Duong province".

In the last five years, it has been a period of dynamic growth, BDNC has heighten its brand name recognition on the regional and global scale.
