1.The 2012 competition composing southern Vietnamese folk songs themed “Binh Duong-a beloved land”.

The competition was co-held by Binh Duong Radio-Television Station, provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and provincial Arts and Literature Association. Its main sponsor was Becamex IDC and it absorbed 425 composers across the country.

2.Attending the 2012 National Professional Singing and Dancing Festival

The festival was held in Buon Ma Thuoc city in the central highland province of Dak Lak from August 10 to 22. Coming to the festival, Binh Duong’s traditional art troupe performed a special art program themed “A city of sunflower”, including 10 singing and dancing items. As a result, the art troupe won 2 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the festival.

3. Ly Hoang Nam, a strange phenomenon of Vietnam’s tennis

After winning the national men's singles championship at the age of 15 on October 12, fifteen-year-old tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has been widely hailed as a "strange phenomenon" of Vietnam’s tennis.

Mual Thai fighter Le Hoang Duc of Binh Duong excellently won 2 gold medals in the men 's 45kg event at the 2012 National Muay Thai Clubs Championship 2012 and the 2012 Asian Muay Thai Championship.

5.Bodybuilder Ho Than Phat

Bodybuilder Ho Tan Phat of Binh Duong won a gold medal at the 2012 Asian Body Building Championship in China.

It is known that he also grasped gold medals at national bodybuilding championships in 2008, 2009 and 2010; pocked a silver medal at the 2010 Asian Bodybuilding Championship in Iran. In 2011, he also gold medals at national bodybuilding tournaments and a bronze medal at the 2011 Asian Bodybuilding Championship in Thailand.

6.The 2012 Binh Duong Open Billiards Tournament-Becamex IJC Cup

The tournament was held by Binh Duong Radio-Television Station with the participation of 50 strongest players nationwide, including Ly The Vinh, Nguyen Thanh Binh, Dang Dinh Tien, Duong Anh Vu, Ma Minh Canh…It will be further maintained and developed into an international tournament in 2013 and next years.

7.The 2012 Binh Duong Open Football Tournament-Becamex IDC Cup

The 7th Binh Duong Open Football Tournament-Becamex IDC Cup 2012, which was co-held by provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Becamex IDC, got more attractive and its quality also saw more improvement. This was appreciated as Vietnam’s biggest amateur football tournament by the Vietnam Football Federation.

Bloating fern-shaped cake at Bung market in Binh Duong province was among Vietnam’s top 50 most delicious foods selected by Vietnam Guinness Organization on August 2012.

Mangosteen in Binh Duong province’s Lai Thieu township was also among Vietnam’s top 50 most delicious foods selected by Vietnam Guinness Organization on August 2012.

10.The 3rd Festival for Outstanding Sport-Cultural Families in the Southeastern Region of 2012

The festival was organized by provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism  at Thanh Le Cultural Park from June 26 to 28, with the participation of 18 outstanding families in the area of culture and sports from 6 southeastern provinces: including Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc and Binh Duong.

This was an important event for localities in the region to exchange and share experience in building up happy families and introduce cultural features of each locality, contributing to strengthening solidarity between southeastern localities.
