The first negotiation session for candidates’ selection has completed. As a result, the candidates for the 8th tenure Provincial People’s Council delegation includes 6 introduced to Party Committee, 34 to State’s management agencies, 37 to social and political organizations, 23 to economic organization, 3 to arm force units, and 11 to district-level administrative units.
Voters in residential area No. 9 of Phu Loi ward agree to the introduction of candidates by showing their hands.
The mentioned quantity indicates that candidates are reduced comparing to the initial candidate introduction. One of the prominent proposals raised was that there should be a reduction in terms of leaders of State’s management agencies (departments and sectors) who may fail to make inquiries of other agencies.
In exchange with the press, Fatherland Front Committee Chairman Pham Van Canh admitted that there remains delegates of People’s Council failing to contribute to the supervision roles ò the council. Thus, he confirmed that the quality is improving with stricter selection. Under regulations, the deadline for selecting delegates to National Assembly is on March 18 and to People’s Council on March 23.
Under law on election to National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils effective from and on January 01, 2011, the delegates must meet 5 criteria of which being close to the public was highlighted by voters attending the meeting. The delegates are supposed to listen to and understand the public before re-stating their voices to State’s management agencies.
