Chanh My is one of TDM city’s communes along Sai Son river with the great potential of  eco-tourism development. Over the past years, the commune reached a considerable growth in economy and met many criteria to develop into a ward…

Chanh My commune is now home to 9 hamlets with the total population of 10,809 people. Over the past years, the commune promoted its economic development with the proportions of 62.1% for trade-services, 36.1% for home industry and 1,8% for agricultural production. The commune’s economy achieved an average income of 7.5% in the period of 2010 and 2012. The average income per capita of the local people in 2012 was VND30mln. Nguyen Thi Bach Tuyet, Chairwoman of Chanh My communal People’s Committee said: “The commune will further bend on fostering trade-services; encourage all economic sectors to expand business and production; maintain the growth of trade-services at 5%/year; strive to achieve VND320bln in total revenue of trade-services till 2015”.

Chanh My is one of communes under TDM city’s High Quality Services Development Program in the period of 2011 and 2015 period. There are now 3 urban and housing projects with around 400 hectares in total or 57.7% of the commune’s total area, including those of “garden villa”, “Chanh My ecological urban area”, “Tuong Binh Hiep-Chanh My trading and housing area”. These projects will greatly contribute to the local development of trade and services.

Home industry is also one of the commune’s strong points. The whole commune now has 25 home industry facilities getting involved in traditional crafts, contributing to generating jobs for the local laborers and ensuring the local value of trade-services with the annual growth of 3%.

According to Mrs.Tuyet, Chanh My commune will give priority to the development of the commune’s main infrastructure by State budget; encourage enterprises to make investment for the local development as planned; especially mobilize all sources from the private economic sector to promote the local development of traditional crafts and trade-services.

So far, Chanh My commune has basically met criteria to become a ward. To Mrs.Tuyet, the establishment of Chanh My ward in TDM city is line with the local socio-economic development and it bears a great importance, creating a driving force for the local socio-economic development, consolidating national defence-security and meeting the local  people’s aspirations.
