The provincial department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Phu Cuong ward opened a commemorative stele of Aug. 25, 1945 historic event at the ward on Aug. 25. Attending the event were local leaders, revolutionists and local public.

65 years ago, soldiers and public gathered together to join in a meeting held in the front of Chau Thanh district’s hall (now Phu Cuong ward). After a flag salute ceremony, Van Cong Khai, secretary of the then provincial party committee, head of Uprising Committee delivered a speech to announce authority belonging to the public. The day of Aug. 25, 1945 went into local history as a bright milestone of the national independence.
The stele is to educate young generation about local tradition.
