Di An city Youth’s Union proliferates creative, beneficial models

Update: 12-01-2024 | 14:39:14

Numerous effective models have been recently implemented by the Di An city Youth’s Union with innovative approaches, spreading widely among the youth union members.

Making the poles green

Ms. Lam Hoang Thuy Trang, Secretary of the Youth Union of Di An city, stated that there is a situation where the electricity poles on important roads in the area are being illegally covered with advertising and classified ads, which violates regulations and affects the aesthetic appearance. In response to this, the city's youth have implemented the "Flowering Electricity Pole" model. From the effectiveness of this model, the Youth Union directs the Ward Unions to coordinate with the local authorities to implement the "Green Cover for Electric Poles" project. The project aims to eliminate the practice of posting advertisements and classifieds in violation of regulations, while also contributing to raising awareness among citizens and young union members about the protection of urban aesthetics and environmental hygiene in the city.

According to the government, on main roads in the city, the installation of plastic grass mats on lamp posts and electric poles has contributed to reducing the incidence of non-compliant advertising and classified ads by over 95%. The 2.5m high plastic grass layer, wrapped around the electric poles and lamp posts and firmly fixed with adhesive, has helped beautify the streets and alleys with a synchronized green area, environmentally friendly, and without any non-compliant advertising or classified ads.

The model has been effectively implemented in 7 wards. A notable example is Tan Dong Hiep Ward, which has installed artificial turf on 150 lamp posts along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Le Hong Phong streets, with a total value of 45 million VND. Di An Ward has also implemented artificial turf on 50 lamp posts along Ly Thuong Kiet street, with a cost of 15 million VND.

The gratitude

Along with the construction of civilized urban models, the youth of Dĩ An City also carry out many activities to "repay gratitude". Specifically, the model of "Grateful Meal" is implemented by the Youth Union, reflecting the moral principle of "Remembering the source when drinking water", expressing gratitude to the great contributions and sacrifices of the revolutionary veterans, wounded soldiers, and martyrs. Accordingly, youth union members organize visits to the homes of heroic Vietnamese mothers, veterans, policy beneficiary families, and together with their families, clean up their houses and prepare a sumptuous meal. After offering rice to the ancestral altar and the altar of fallen heroes, youth union members will gather with their families for a "Grateful Meal". Through this activity, youth union members will further understand and deeply imbibe the tradition of gratitude as well as historical stories.

Sharing the hardship

In line with the "Wings of Love" model, the Youth Union of Di An aims to encourage the children of young workers on their educational journey through scholarships obtained from sponsors. The funds raised by the Youth Union are converted into scholarships awarded to outstanding children of young workers for their academic achievements. This is a source of encouragement to help young people continue to strive to become useful citizens for their families and society; at the same time, it provides additional motivation for the long-term commitment of the youth workforce, contributing to the overall development of the locality.

This model has been implemented in 7 wards throughout the city. The Ward Youth Union has compiled profiles of children of young workers and submitted them to the City Youth Union to request scholarships. As a result, the City Youth Union has reviewed and awarded 23 scholarships to outstanding students who are children of young workers residing in boarding houses in the area, with a total amount of 23 million VND.

In addition, the "Supporting Education" model of the city's youth also helps students from disadvantaged backgrounds to have additional conditions to pay tuition fees, buy books, school supplies, clothes, backpacks, bicycles to go to school... These models have demonstrated the proactive spirit, volunteerism, and dedication of the city's youth to community life, spreading compassion within the community.
