Di An town combines production with environmental protection

One of Di An town’s highlighted results of environmental protection during over 3 years lies in assessment and supervision of environmental protection at production facilities and businesses.

Since 2006, Di An town People’s Committee has received 315 applications of environmental protection from production facilities and businesses. In addition, the committee has launched a project of “assessing pollution at 121 production facilities and businesses out of local industrial parks and compounds”. Therefore, Di An has set out measures on environmental protection for businesses in the coming time.

Over years, the town division of Environment and Natural Resources checked 54 production facilities and fined 19 violations with the total fine of over VND108mil as well as implemented unexpected supervisions to 9 production units, discharging waste into Mu U Spring in Tan Phu 1 hamlet, Tan Binh commune. Through the surveillance, the town People’s Committee asked the violation units to improve pollution situation.

To close supervision of environmental pollution

Along with the assessment, the town often checks environmental pollution in production and business. Until now, the town has decided to set up 15 inspection teams on environmental protection.

It is essential to raise local residents and businesses’ awareness on environmental protection as well as to seriously implement assessment of environmental protection. This will help the town develop local economy sustainably, stressed Di An town authorities at all levels.
