After more than 3 years of implementing Directive No.43-CT/TU dated June 8, 2010 of the Secretariat of the CPV Central Committee on “Enhancing the Party’s leadership to the Vietnam Red Cross Society” (briefly called the Directive 43), Di An town’s Red Cross Society has improved the quality of its activities at the local requirements on socio-economic development.

Development of town’s Red Cross Society

Di An town’s Party Committee has promoted the Directive 43 among Party cells at all levels while paying attention to consolidate the apparatus of the town’s Red Cross Society. After three-year implementation of the Directive 43, the town’s Red Cross Society has been developed in 100% of wards, hamlets and schools with many effective clubs and groups with nearly 1,700 members…

Di An town’s Party Committee has also conducted the local Red Cross Society to implement political tasks annually. Upon this, the local Red Cross Society has put forward specific targets in each month, quarter and six months of the year; implemented the assessment of activities and design orientations for the coming time. The local Red Cross Society has also taken initiative in giving advice for the local Party and government to create favorable conditions for the society’s activities; simultaneously made close relations with the local sectors and mass organizations.

Excelling at social charity activities

Di An ward’s Red Cross Society now takes the lead in movements launched by Di An town’s Red Cross Society, especially social charity activities.

The social charity activities have absorbed a large number of people in Di An ward. Chau Thanh Dan, a member of Di An town’s Red Cross Society is an outstanding example. As head of the society’s voluntary blood donation team, he is always an exemplary person in this work with 31 times for blood donation. He has also actively mobilized many other people to get involved in blood donation and other social activities organized by the local Red Cross Society.

Many other members have actively got involved in the voluntary blood donation campaign launched by the local Red Cross Society. For example, Nguyen Tuan Vu have given blood 30 times, Le Hien Trung with 27 times and many other individuals have made contributions to the society.

Phan Tuan Phao, Chairman of Di An ward’s Red Cross Society said that since early this year, the society has excelled at public healthcare and other social activities with total expense of more than VND750mln. The society has also joined hands with relevant agencies to award scholarships and gifts to poor pupils…

According to Tu Anh Tuan, Chairman of Di An town’s Red Cross Society, the society and its affiliates will further give advice for the local Party and government to facilitate their activities; maintain and uphold the results of the implementation of Directive 43; widely multiply practical models to take care of needy people, contributing to well realizing the local hunger eradication and poverty reduction; attach special importance to building up competent staff to meet the local development requirements at present…

Over the past three years, more than 4,16 people in Di An town took part in voluntary blood donation with more than 1.45 mln liters of blood. The town’s Red Cross Society also built 17 houses of compassion for people with difficulties; visited and presented more than 12,700 gifts worth more than VND2.6bln to policy beneficiaries…

With achievements done over the past time, Di An town’s Red Cross Society was awarded the second-class Labor Medal by the State President in 2012.
