Update: 25-02-2016 | 09:43:15

Over the past time, Binh Duong carried out a lot of housing development programs for revolutionary contributors and low-income earners. This implementation brought advantages to locals, thereby contributing to making the local urban rejuvenation.

Highlight in social housing development

Thanks to the integral efforts by the local authorities at all levels and businesses, Binh Duong’s social housing development program over the past time brought very important results.

The province as of late 2015 had a total of 34 social housing projects fulfilled and put into operation with total floor area of more than 1.2mln square meters, supplying accommodations for around 64,000 people. Around 200 businesses operating at province-based industrial parks also built tenement houses for 47,000 laborers with total floor area of 270,000 square meters.

Possibly speaking, Investment and Industrial Development Corporation (Becamex IDC) is seen as a bright spot of the province in social housing development. More than 15,000 laborers have to date enjoyed a peaceful life in social housing areas invested by Becamex IDC. In early April, 2015, Becamex IDC inaugurated and put 4,895 social apartments into use, comprising of 752 in Thuan An town, 2,435 in TDM city, 1,388 in Ben Cat town and 320 in Bau Bang district. This is the first phase of the province’s social housing project that was completed after two-year implementation.

Nguyen Thanh Tai, Director of provincial Department of Construction said that the whole province developed more than 1.2mln square meters of social housing floor in the period of 2011-2015, supplying accommodations for around 1,000 people. In the coming time, the province will further promote the local social housing development programs for low-income earners.

Paying attention to the poor

The province now has around 3mln square meters of lodgings invested by households, supplying accommodations for more than 543,000 people, including workers, students and low-income earners. In the 2011-2015 period alone, the total floor area of lodgings built by households here increased by 1.2mln square meters. All activities relating to lodging business and construction also received support from the local authorities at all levels. This also showed that the province paid more attention to supplying accommodations for the poor.

Under the Prime Minister’s Decision No.22/2013/QD-TTg, provincial People’s Committee approved a project on supporting houses for revolutionary contributors in 2014. The project has so far become a fulcrum bringing the joy to revolutionary contributors with difficult circumstances. Accordingly, 265 houses for revolutionary contributors were built with total capital of VND5.7bln from the central, local State budget and many other socialization sources. The province now continues rechecking a list of revolutionary contributors in need of housing for timely support.

The province has also paid more attention to supporting houses for poor people in rural areas, aiming to improve people’s quality of life and narrow the gap between urban and rural areas. Between 2009 and 2010, the province’s project supporting houses for the poor built and upgraded 791 houses with total expense of VND21bln. Till 2012, the project was adjusted with additional 422 poor households supported to build and repair their houses worth more than VND11.2bln.

The province’s implementation of the program supporting houses for the poor over the past time helped them secure stable accommodations to rise up. The result came from the integral efforts by the local authorities at all levels in mobilizing resources of the whole society to promote the completion of the significant program.

Possibly speaking, the province’s social housing development programs have not only created favorable conditions for the poor to rise up, but also consolidated people’s confidence in the Party and State. Their common success is also the foundation, the driving force for the province to further uphold a task of taking care of the poor in terms of housing in the coming time.
