For many years holding the position of Chairman of the Trade Union at Chi Hung Co., Ltd. (Tan Uyen city), Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha has continuously put forward initiatives in trade union activities, taking good care of the lives of nearly 7,000 workers. In the hearts of the workers at the company, Mrs. Ha is a close person, a family member, and a reliable trade union leader.

Work smart

After the COVID-19 pandemic, our company has also been affected in its production and business activities. To take better care of the workers' lives, I and the company's leadership have been trying to find new orders, ensure prompt and timely payment of wages, continue to retain the workers; rearrange the work among departments to suit each worker, without postponing labor contracts or cutting any jobs.

In recent years, the grassroots trade union of Chi Hung Co., Ltd. has actively coordinated with the company's leadership to plan and organize well the movements of emulation and production. As a result, the enterprise has excellently fulfilled its production and business tasks year after year. Dear Ms. Ha, in order to improve the lives of workers, grassroots trade unions must become stronger. Therefore, you proactively propose to the company's leadership to establish a "Core Union Member Force" consisting of 45 members, participating in Self-Defense Militia Teams, Self-Management Vanguard Worker Teams, and promptly understanding the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers.

One very important initiative that Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha has achieved for workers is to proactively and skillfully negotiate with the company's leadership to contribute an additional 50% to the total cost of organizing union activities, as well as providing free 100% train and bus tickets for all members and workers to return home for the Lunar New Year; organizing gift giving and lucky draws during the Tet holiday for all members and workers; On major holidays, such as: Nation Unification Day (April 30th); International Workers' Day (May 1st); National Day (September 2nd); International Women's Day (March 8th), Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20th), cultural and sports activities, monthly birthday celebrations for members and workers are organized diligently. The total annual amount of support that the company provides to the trade union for taking care of workers amounts to over 15 billion VND.

To affirm the position of trade unions in enterprises, first and foremost, grassroots trade unions must create activities that unite workers, together fulfill assigned tasks to build harmonious and stable labor relations, and progress in the enterprise. Grassroots trade unions operate on the principle of harmony in interests, sharing difficulties with the enterprise.

Healthcare for female work force

Female workers currently account for about 80% of the total workforce at Chí Hùng Company. Through monitoring, the company's grassroots trade union has observed an increasing rate of female workers resigning due to gynecological illnesses and reproductive health issues, which has affected the company's production. This has led Ms. Hà to contemplate finding a better way to take care of the health of female workers. So the initiative "Improving the quality and effectiveness of healthcare for female workers" through the Club of "Workers with Reproductive Health" proposed by the sister with 40 core members, including a specialist doctor in obstetrics and gynecology approved by the company's leadership.

Ha has coordinated with the Provincial Women's Union, the Provincial Family Planning Association, and organized regular training sessions to provide knowledge, skills, and experiences for the "Workers with Reproductive Health" Club. Every week, club members organize regular activities to equip themselves with more knowledge about reproductive health/sexual health/family planning for workers. The effective operation of the club has helped female workers to timely detect and treat gynecological diseases. The annual rate of female workers taking sick leave has decreased by 15-20% compared to the same period, benefiting the business by over 2 billion VND per year.

Chị Hà also has the initiative to mobilize all cadres, members, and workers to use glass and porcelain products provided by the company to replace plastic items, reduce plastic waste, contribute to environmental protection, and save 400 million VND per year. She also proposes to negotiate and effectively implement collective labor agreements with more favorable terms than legal regulations, such as salary, bonuses, support for raising children under 6 years old, filial piety visits, and celebrations.

With the efforts of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha, the cultural, artistic, physical education and sports movement, as well as many practical initiatives and activities of the grassroots trade union, have been supported and trusted by the company's leadership, members and workers. These activities have contributed to building harmonious labor relations and improving the lives of workers in the enterprise.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Ha is one of the 10 outstanding trade union officials nationwide who were recently honored by the Vietnam General Trade Union at the Nguyen Van Linh Award IV-2024 in commemoration of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024).
