Get-together for Thu Dau Mot veterans opened

On the 40th anniversary of the Southern liberation and national unification day (April 30, 1975-2015), the provincial party committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held a traditional get-together for Thu Dau Mot veterans on April 22.

Nguyen Minh Triet, former State President, Mai The Trung, secretary of the provincial party committee cum head of the provincial National Assembly delegation and leaders of the provincial party committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee, departments, agencies and more than 1,500 veterans who used to join in liberation movement of Thu Dau Mot province of yore took part in the get-together.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Pham Van Canh, chairman of the provincial People’s Council tracked back tradition and pointed out great glories of veterans of liberation movement of Thu Dau Mot province. His speech stated that 40 years ago, in the end of March ,1975, Thu Dau Mot provincial party committee set up the steering board of Thu Dau Mot liberation to mobilize all force to take part in general attack and uprising in the locality. In Ho Chi Minh campaign, local party committee and military and people opened heavy attacks against enemies across the province. Specifically, 5 troops and thousands of people rapidly liberated Thu Dau Mot town at 10:30 a.m on April 30, 1975.

Promoting solidarity, creation, the provincial party committee, military and people of Thu Dau Mot province of yore and Binh Duong of today have reached many highlighted achievements, taking Binh Duong from an agricultural province into an industrial province with rapid pace of urbanization, contributing to the country’s common achievements.

Pham Van Canh stressed that the provincial party committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee are always proud of and engrave glories and precious contributions of veterans for local building and development over the past 40 years.

In addition, he hoped that local veterans would continue to contribute to local party committee, authority’s development as well as build a prosperous and civilized homeland.
