The seventh Government Organisations (GO) and Non-Governmental Organsations (NGO) forum on social welfare and development was held in Hanoi on September 12.

The forum, within the framework of the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (8th SOMSWD), aimed to further place proper mechanism for cooperation between GOs and NGOs in building and implementing social welfare policies and programmes.

Participants in the forum discussed social welfare issues, especially good examples and ASEAN countries’ initiatives, including citizens’ accession to social services and children’s accession to nutrition, education, healthcare and other essential services.

They proposed building a social welfare floor to support disadvantaged groups in the development of an ASEAN community

Petitions and initiatives at the forum will be discussed at the 8th SOMSWD in the next few days.
