In the evening of April 23, the provincial People’s Committee held the Hung Kings’ death anniversary at Hung Vuong Gifted School. The anniversary took place amid celebrations of great holidays of the 1,000th anniversary of Ha Noi, 35th anniversary of Southern Liberation, so the death anniversary was a chance to educate young generation and people about the ethnic principles.

Solemn ceremonies

Hung Vuong Gifted School’s ground on April 23 evening seemed to become Hung Kings Temple in the impressive scene of the temple gate and fence.

At 7p.m, over 50 pupils carried torch from the provincial Museum to the festive ground amid the sound of drums. The holy torch was lighted to show the present generations’ cause of the national building and protection. Vu Minh Sang, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Council kindled the torch.

At the opening ceremony, Nguyen Van Hiep, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee said Hung Kings Death anniversary is a lively symbol of the values of culture, spirit, great solidarity. To pay gratefulness to Hung Kings, Hung Vuong Gifted School’s pupils offered square glutinous rice cakes and flowers to the ancestors.

The most highlighted feature of the festivities was performance items with the well preparation of local troupes and pupils.

Significant festivities

Many significant festivities took place during April 23 with the participation of pupils, students. The most significant part lay in glutinous cake cooking contest. Duyen, a former pupil of the school, said she and her friends often visit the school on the death anniversary.

The flower arrangement contest lured numerous participants. Every flower basket was arranged thoroughly to offer to the Hung Kings.

Besides, folk games of bag jumping (jumping in the bag), tug-of-war, fish catching and so on took place lively. Xuan Man, the 10th grader of the school shared he felt proud to study in the school and was eager to join the death anniversary.

In addition, camping activity took place right at the school ground. As a school with the name of Hung Kings, Hung Vuong Gifted School is chosen to hold the Hung Kings Death Anniversary annually. Tran Van Hai, headmaster of the school, said the school pupils positively practiced performance items to prepare for the event. Activities of the event were considered one of educational ways for pupils.
