Impressive constructions

In recent years, the beautification of urban areas of Lai Thieu Ward in Thuan An Town has been particularly taken care of. Accordingly, major projects of traffic streets, commercial centers, schools, hospitals, etc. have been constructed. Those projects not only satisfies the daily needs but also boost the economic development in the locality of modernity.

Breakthrough constructions

Talking about Lai Thieu, many think of a land for orchards, fish ponds, and the small streets of pottery and clay pig banks. However, things have changed in the land of Lai Thieu, expressively made on large streets and land-mark constructions of Phu Long Bridge, Lotte Mart, Becamex International Hospital, river bank reinforcement, Phu Long Junior High School, Lai Thieu Elementary School, etc. Besides, two significant streets along Saigon River connecting Lai Thieu to Binh Nham and Gia Long Street connecting Lai Thieu to Lai Thieu Market on National Highway No. 13.

Locals of Lai Thieu and authorities call those constructions the breakthroughs and impressive constructions as they genuinely are. It is because that those constructions have largely invested by great funding and determination of local authority and people as far as planning is concerned.

Mr. Huynh Van Son, Lai Thieu Ward Party Committee Secretary said: “Although the constructions are major, the design, compensation and construction completion took less than 3 years. The achievement was thanks to beautification tasks of local people’s committee and provincial people’s committee. Moreover, as the projects were implemented, information dissemination and support luring have been promoted by local Party  committee and people’s committee to create grand unity and agreements of the decisions. Besides, officers in charge of compensation and site clearance have practice democratic approach to win trust of the public.”

Son informed of the expectation to create a type 3 urban area out of the locality by 2020 through the boosting new projects to elevate economic devopment. Therefore, major projects in Lai Thieu have been initiated including Lai Thieu Commercial Center located on Gia Long Street. The commercial center, when put into use, shall mitigate overloading trading activities. Meantime, the project of Chau Van Tiep Street connecting Lai Thieu Market to National Highway No. 13 in parallel with Gia Long Street will create a beautiful pair of streets along a river part in Lai Thieu.

Effectiveness and enlightenment

Travelling needs of local people have been well met as the streets leading to Phu Long, Gia Long Street and many other constructions are put into use. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hue, residing at the front street of Gia Long, said: “In the past, we only had acacia and farms here. We were attached to planting of short-term vegetables for low economic yields. In fact, I have never imagined of my house being on such a beautiful and large street. In more than 3 years back, all of us, the locals, agreed with the planning for such a street. Many were doubtful but I have told them about greater benefits. The yields are clear as we can drive cars to our front gates and people can enjoy jogging every morning. Sooner or later, Chau Van Tiep Street on the opposite side of the river shall be put into use and on the other side, Lai Thieu Commercial Center prevails. I can assure you of a good residential area as any where else.”

In the days of a new year, the street on Saigon River crossing Binh Duc Quarter has been boosted for its final construction stage, making locals of Lai Thieu more delight. Ms. Hoang Thi Mai Huyen, a coffee shop owner on the street side, said: “The area was once of scare population and good street, making it hard to start a business. I worked for a brick kiln then. In a matter of 1 year, the street has made an urban area out of the place with houses mushroomed. I open the shop for many buyers as locals from Lai Thieu Market and Binh Nham can easily travel to my place.”

Talking to reporters on the ongoing project, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Ut, a resident at the front street, said eagerly: “Construction of such street delights us all. The land price locally was about VND 500,000 to 700,000 per square meters. Its now ten time the amount but no more land lot is available. Many investors from Ho Chi Minh City have been seeking for land to build up river-side resorts.”

The major constructions built by the determination and agreements of Lai Thieu Ward Party Committee and People’s Committee have apparently promoting the locality to be transformed into type 3 urban area in a matter of time.
