Inflation curb is an urgent task

Update: 19-03-2010 | 00:00:00

Facing forecasts of increasing inflation, inflation curb task has become urgent in this year. Experts said that to stabilize macro-economy, measures of inflation curb needs to be launched timely.

Goods prices are unlike previous years’ rules.

In early 2010, goods prices became complicated. Routinely, before Tet, goods prices surge sharply, owing to the rising purchasing power but the prices will decrease gradually after Tet. However, in the first 2 months of this year, together with price hike of essential goods, foreign exchange, electricity, a series of commodities become expensive from early March. Many worried that with such market situation, high inflation can reappear.

Ph.D Vu Dinh Anh from the Institute of Price and Market Science under the Finance Ministry explained that 2010’s CPI can repeat its script in 2004-2005. However, this depends on the country’s management of macro-economic policy. If the management of macro-economic policy is unreasonable, CPI index can surge to 12-15%, added Ph.D Anh.

Meanwhile, Ph.D Vu Thanh Tu Anh, director of Fulbright program assessed, based on macro policy over the past time and the CPI index in the first 2 months of 2010, there are many reasons to worry about high inflation in 2010.

According to experts, to stabilize macro economy, the top measure is to decrease the state budget deficit level by reducing state budget expenditure and cutting and long-term and big investment projects.

Besides, experts petitioned to accelerate locally-made goods consumption as well as to stabilize market price. Accordingly, it is necessary to readjust investment structure and growth model and so on.
