Joining hands for public health

Update: 28-03-2015 | 10:50:06

With youth fervor, provincial young persons have done many practical activities for the community. Young physicians in the province have also responded actively through charity medical activities. Following young volunteers, we saw and felt meaningful deeds from them to serve the poor people.

In the end of March, young members of provincial General Hospital’s Youth Union branch coordinated with BIDV’s Union branch to made a trip for free health check-up, medication, and gifts offering to poor people in Tan Dinh and Hieu Liem commune in North Tan Uyen district. . This is one activity in response to the Youth Month and to welcome Party Congresses at all levels.

After health checking, poor people received careful medication instructions from young physicians.

Early in the morning, 14 doctors, nurses of General Hospital prepared tools and medicines for the trip. At Tan Dinh commune People’s Committee, many people were waiting, so young doctors embarked immediately on their main tasks. With assistance from BIDV’s Union branch, everything was ready.

General Hospital’s Union Secretary Ms. Hoang Thi Kieu Hau said, Tan Dinh and Hieu Liem commune were traditional revolutionary areas having many poor households and Agent Orange victims. After discussion with BIDV’s Union branch, we built up this program with the desire to share difficulties with local poor people.

According to Ms. Hau, they also check up health for policy beneficiaries. At the end of the trip, about 150 persons were checked and given medicines, small gifts. These poor people were happy and felt thankful to young physicians.

Ms. Truong Thi Quo living in Tan Dinh commune was a policy beneficiary. Ms. Quo said: “I'm getting old and have illness. Thus I came here for these young persons to check my health. They were young, but very gentle, enthusiastic, checked my health and gave medication instructions carefully…”

Ms. 67-year-old Hoang Thi Nga in Hieu Liem commune also said, this activity was very meaningful to poor people. “Thanks to these activities, we do not have to go to hospital. Poor people in rural areas like us cannot afford treatment in hospitals. Today, I received free health check-up and health advices”, said Ms. Nga.

To carry out this meaningful activity, apart from contributions from young people of General Hospital, BIDV’s Union branch mobilized VND10 million from their unit to purchase medicines. BIDV’s Union Secretary Mr. Chung Ly Luan said: “This is a very meaningful program. We will work together to conduct more programs like this in the future to share difficulties with poor people in the province”.

After each meaningful trip, these young persons returned to their daily work, but happiness from sharing actions will stay in their hearts, urging them to go on new trips. Following uncle Ho’s teaching, young generation today has been making every effort to work, promote volunteerism in the community through small but meaningful deeds.
