A significant gift

Since the start of this week, leaders of the provincial administration, local department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and supportive Fund for Children have held gift visits to underprivileged children across localities.

In the morning of Jan. 15, despite cold weather, children in 2 communes of Minh Hoa and Minh Thanh of Dau Tieng district were eager to arrive at the communal People’s Committee headquarters to receive gifts. Tran Thi Nhuan, the mother of Le Thanh Nhan in Hoa Cuong hamlet, Minh Hoa commune, said “My income is very modest, so after hearing about the gift visit at the communal People’s Committee, I am very happy to receive the significant Tet gift so I can buy a new clothe for my son”.

For needy children, they expect to receive lucky money or wear new clothes on Tet holiday. Therefore, the Tet gift packages are very significant to them.

Taking care of poor children is the common responsibility of the society. Aside from gifts funded by the provincial administration, districts, towns and city have also disbursed budget to grant Tet gifts to poor kids.

In this year, Thuan An town will donate 240 Tet gifts each worth VND500,000 to local poor children whilst Dau Tieng district will spend VND75mil to offer 150 gifts to needy kids.

Despite busy work on the days near Tet, organizations, donors have taken part of their profit to take care of poor children. Specifically, Thanh Le Co.Ltd., BIDV, Dau Tieng Rubber Company and many more have earmarked their funds to grant Tet gifts to poor children.

Ngo Thi Xuyen, vice head of Dau Tieng district division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that despite difficulties in this year, the locality has still received assistance from the community to help needy children in remote areas on the coming Tet holiday.

A happy Spring

Every year, the provincial sponsor Fund for Children holds a program named “Spring with needy children”. This year is the 7th year of the program with the participation of 350 poor kids across localities and social sponsor centers. The program will be held in the afternoon of Jan. 17.

Opening the program will be a dragon dance item and musical items. At the program, children will receive square glutinous rice cakes and a gift package worth VND500,000 from the provincial leaders. 5 children with the specially difficult circumstances will enjoy assistance from the fund with VND10mil for each of them.

Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, director of the provincial sponsor fund for children said “Thanks to care from all level agencies and sectors and donors, the fund and the local department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs have helped many needy kids. We will continue to increase more wings of dream for poor children everywhere”.
