After 5 years of implementing resolutions of the 9th district party congress, Tan Uyen has reached many achievements of political economy, socio-culture, contributing to make driving force for next years. However, the locality remains shortcomings, impacting on the district development. On the occasion of the 10th district party congress, Binh Duong Daily had an interview with the district People’s Committee chairman Nguyen Thanh Phuong about the problem. 

 What do you think of the 9th party congress’ achievements?

Despite difficulties, the locality still reached the proposed goals with high growth of industrial density. Welfare policies were excelled whilst political security and social order and safety were ensured. In addition, political system was often reinforced to ensure completion of political tasks and to uphold the national great unity bloc.

Could you tell about basic targets that the locality reached in the past term?

In the past term, the district reached a GDP increase of 15.14% per year, industial value rise of 24.58%, service rise of 26.06%. The local economic structure gained at 58.43%, 26.19% and 15.38% for industrial, service and agricultural structure. Besides, the locality reached a per capita income of 25.8mil per year whilst poverty rate declined at 0.83%...

What shortcomings is the locality facing, sir?

Aside from advantages, the locality remains shortcomings such as stagnancy of some projects, poor quality of education, complication of order security as well as weak cooperation of relevant units, impacting on the completion of the proposed goals.

The reason of the obstacles is from the global economic recession, insynchrony of economic infrastructure development, inefficiency of applying the State policies, limited knowledge of local staff.

What solutions will the locality set out to improve the problems?

The district will boost shift of economic structure, develop industry with a high pace in combination with service development.

In addition, the locality will keep conducting rural industrialization and modernization, stabilizing agricultural land area, protecting environment, accelerating development of socio-economy synchronously. Excelling administration reforms and corruption and waste control are also crucial targets.
