The road of people’s concensus

Mr. Giang recalled and told us: “The Go Na road adjacent to Go Na market at hamlet 1A of Phuoc Hoa commune had a length of nearly half a kilometer. Previously, the route was a red dirt road that was rough and very difficult to travel through as when it was sunny every time, traffic passing by would bring up clouds of dust and while it was raining, it was muddy. Even if we dreamed, we would not dare to think that one day the road would become as beautiful and wide as it is now. We must thank the Party committees and local authorities very much for promulgating the right, winning and people-pleasing guidelines and policies."

According to the reporter's research, the new road when designed has a drainage system but the road surface area is not enough. Therefore, when deciding to build a road, the authority mobilized people to donate land to widen the road surface as a drainage system and was highly supported by the local people. Typically, the family of Ms. N., a resident of the area, donated more than 100 square meters of land at a value of over VND 350 million at the time.

High-tech agriculture

Since a local policy to encourage people to convert agricultural farming from traditional methods to a model of applying technology to improve product efficiency as well as product value was in place, many farmers in Phu Giao district have risen out of poverty and become rich in their homeland.

Ms. Vo Thi Tram, the owner of a cataloupe farm in group 1 of quarter 6 of Phuoc Vinh town, said that her family also have more than 2 hectares of rubber trees, in recent years the price of rubber has continuously decreased sharply making latex harvest not enough to cover the cost of fertilizers, pesticides, and effort spent on the care. Since the locality put into place the application of technological agricultural farming models that have helped people increase their income, she boldly learned and built her own model of growing cantaloupe by the method of green, clean, and safe technology.

Currently, she has successfully implemented a model of growing cantaloupe with an area of more than 100 square meters, on which the initial investment cost of making a net house was about VND 200 million for the shelf life of 5 years. “Growing cataloupe in the net house system is very convenient; from the time the seedlings are planted, we have harvested fruit after 60-70 days for an average of 3 crops a year; the selling price if deducting the costs of investment and care for the plant in a year could earn us VND 150-200 million, which is much more profitable than rubber latex," said Ms. Tram. From the high economic efficiency brought in by growing cantaloupe, many local households have learned the model and followed to increase their family's income. Up to now, the whole town of Phuoc Vinh has more than 10 hectares planted with cataloupe, informed Tram.

Detailed action plans

Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem Dang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phuoc Hoa Commune, said that in order to bring the Party's resolutions to life, Phuoc Hoa commune has built a specific action plan for each year to strive for completion. Specifically, developing a plan to implement the new enhanced rural program in the 2021-2022 in Phuoc Hoa commune. Up to now, the commune has achieved 17 out of 19 criteria and 40 out of 43 targets according to the advanced set of criteria of the provincial People's Committee. Action Program No. 02 of the district Party committee and the commune Party Committee on maximizing resources to continually invest in the development of transport infrastructure and ensure synchronous and suitable connectivity consistent with the development orientation of the province has been formulated and implemented. Action Plan No. 03 of the District Party Committee, the Commune Party Committee has been on continuing to develop high-tech agriculture in association with production, processing and consumption of products, and building a civilized city along with environmental protection. The commune has also developed a plan to implement the action program of the commune Party Committee on building synchronous infrastructure and promoting the development of trade and services to contribute to the economic, cultural and social development of agricultural standards in the newly enhanced villages for the 2020-2025 term.

Mr. Pham Hai Dang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Phuoc Vinh town, said that in order for the resolutions and targets to come into reality, the Party Committee and the town authorities have proposed many synchronous solutions to speed up the propaganda for officials, party members and people to grasp the resolutions of the congress set out during the term; to concretize the resolution criteria, select the agenda suitable to the practical conditions of the locality. In socio-economic development, on ensuring national defense and security, the town should focus on propagating and mobilizing people to actively change the structure of crops and livestock and apply science and technology to production. All people should unite to build a cultural life associated with the movement of the town's Party Committee on building a civilized city and cultural quarter.
