Local production value of agro-forestry and aquatic sectors reaches over VND2,800bil

In 2011, local production value of agro-forestry and aquatic sectors reached VND2,802bil, a 4.2% increase from 2010. Till the end of 2011, density of animal husbandry and cultivation won 72.3% and 23.8% respectively. The output of farm produce surged constantly with 190,180 tons of rubber and 75,450 tons of poultry and cattle meat whilst export turnover of agro-forestry and aquatic sectors reached US$10.34bil, a 21% increase.

At present, the total area of annual crop plants and perennial trees has been at 27,762ha and 136,284ha, respectively whilst total cattle and poultry herds at more than 48,000 and 3.29mil, respectively.

The department in 2012 targets to reach a 4% increase in agro-forestry and aquatic sectors and a 3.9% rise in agriculture…

Addressing the conference, the provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Tran Van Nam asked to department to implement 2 big programs including agricultural structure transfer in line with urban and hi-tech agricultural development and new rural building as well as to spur technical transfer for farmers, excel inspections on food safety and hygiene during Tet.

On Jan. 10, a delegation of the Finance Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development had a working session with the local administration to launch a pilot implementation on agricultural insurance in the locality.

Accordingly, the local administration selected 9 communes for the pilot implementation. They include Long Nguyen, Lai Hung and Lai Uyen communes of Ben Cat district; Long Hoa, Long Tan and Minh Hoa of Dau Tieng; Thai Hoa, Thuong Tan and Lac An of Tan Uyen.
