Lord Buddha’s birthday celebrated in Binh Duong

A ceremony to mark the 2,556th  birthday of Lord Buddha was grandly held at Hoi Khanh pagoda in Binh Duong on the morning of May 5.

Attending the ceremony were Vu Minh Sang, provincial Party Committee Permanent Deputy Secretary cum provincial People’s Council Chairman; leaders of some sectors and mass organizations together with Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers across TDM town.

At the ceremony, Superior Buddhist monk Thich Hue Thong reviewed achievements done by the Buddhist community of the province over the past time.

Pham Van Canh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee also read a letter celebrating the 2,556th birthday of Lord Buddha from the Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, which highlighted the good tradition of the Buddhist community in Vietnam in general and in Binh Duong in particular, contributing to national development and construction.

On this occasion, provincial Buddhist Sangha donated 300 gifts worth VND400,000 each to TDM town’s Association for the Bind.

*Earlier, at 17pm of May 4, a parade around streets in inner TDM town was held as part of a series of activities to celebrate the 2,566th birthday of Lord Buddha.
