Making consensus between businesses and laborers

After the term half of implementing the Resolutions of the 10th Vietnam Trade Union Congress and the 8th provincial Trade Union Congress, provincial Labor Unions at all levels have made efforts in protecting laborers’ legitimate rights and interests; building a harmonious, stable and advanced labor relationship in businesses.

 

With the above results, provincial Trade Unions at all levels have taken initiative in cooperating with relevant agencies to inspect, monitor and deal with complaints and appeals from laborers and provide legal consultancy for them. So far, there have been 416,817 laborers in businesses with trade union locals signed labor deals, or 89% of total; 804 out of 1,550 businesses with trade union locals building and registering mass labor deals.

 

Over the past time, provincial Trade Unions at all levels and relevant agencies jointly dealt with 2,173 complaints and appeals, bringing legitimate rights and interests for 2,121 laborers…They also boosted legal constancy for laborers. There were 12,000 cases receiving direct or indirect legal consultancy.

 

In addition to the law dissemination work, provincial Trade Unions at all levels have sped up their activities on drug, prostitution, HIV/AIDS prevention and reproductive healthcare among laborers. As many as outstanding laborers were also admitted into the Communist Party of Vietnam.

 

At a recent meeting to review the implementation of the resolutions of trade unions at all levels, provincial Party Committee Standing Vice Secretary cum provincial People’s Council Chairman faced many shortcomings for change. He also asked for trade unions at all levels to improve their activities in both content and form; work harder on training trade union officials, especially those in foreign businesses…; regularly organize meetings between the local leaders, trade union officials and laborers to have timely solutions for laborers’ queries in order to minimize the number of labor disputes…
