Mid-autumn festival comes early for children

Around one week approaches the Mid-Autumn Festival 2012, but the festive atmosphere is overwhelming the streets of the province. This year’s Mid-Autumn Festival has come early for disadvantaged children across the province. On the afternoon of September 21 (August 6 of calendar), provincial Support Council-Fund for Children held the Mid-Autumn Festival 2012 and awarded scholarships to children with extremely difficult circumstance across the province.

Provincial People’s Committee’s hall A yesterday got animated with the Mid-Autumn Festival 2012 for children with extremely difficult circumstance. Around 400 poor-but-excellent pupils across the province gathered to enjoy the festival.

Participating children said that the festival was not only an useful playground, but also a chance for them to meet and encourage each other to overcome difficulties to well study and deserve the society’s atttention.

The Party, State and the whole society always pay attention to taking care of young generation, especially children with extremely difficult circumstance. Huynh Van Nhi, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee cum Chairman of provincial Support Council-Fund for Children said that disadvantaged children have always received the attention of provincial leaders and the whole society, especially provincial Support Fund for Children. He also hoped that they will make more efforts in studying, realizing five teachings of Uncle Ho and rising up to become the owners of the country’s future.

The Mid-Autumn Festival 2012 got warmer when music to celebrate the festival resounded through the hall. This was also the time provincial leaders presented mid-autumn gifts worth VND300,000 each to 400 disadvantaged children. Over the past days, provincial Support Fund for Children also visited and presented 700 gifts to disadvantaged children across the province.

Bringing dreams to life

One of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2012’s significant activities was to award scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils.

Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Director of provincial Support Fund for Children said that over the past time, provincial Support Fund for Children awarded scholarships to thousands of poor pupils. On this occasion, provincial Support Fund awarded 364 scholarships, 38 bicycles and 5 computers with a total expense of more than VND495mln.

In addition to provincial leaders’ attention, socio-economic organizations have joined hands in taking care of disadvantaged children across the province. Vo Van Lanh, General Director of 3-2 Investment Construction Joint Stock Co. said scholarships and gifts awarded to disadvantaged children at the festival from the company and donors will contribute to encouraging their fondness for learning on the threshold of the new academic year.

The above festival was one of significant activities made by provincial Support Fund for Children to take care of needy children and those living in remote areas of the province. Over the past 15 years, provincial Support Fund for Children and its affiliates mobilized VND39bln from organizations and individuals. The fund also presented 4,058 scholarships, 39 sets of computers, 565 bicycles, 137 wheelchairs, 37,192 gifts…to needy children on Tet and great holidays; supported eye, heart and facial surgeries for more than 1,830 children…In addition, the fund organized drawing and art performance contests for disadvantage children, contributing to creating useful playgrounds for them.
