Pilot plan for solid waste sorting at source

On May 18, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of PPC, chaired the meeting to approve the draft amendment to Decision No. 04/2010/QD-UBND of PPC on solid waste management in the province and pilot plan for solid waste sorting at source in the province of 2016-2018 period.

Regulations on solid waste management in the province consist of 8 chapters and 34 articles. A new feature of the regulation is to establish solid waste collection, management systems in the direction of separating industrial solid waste from normal solid waste to reduce provincial budget disbursement.

At the meeting, representatives of provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment also presented the draft pilot plan for solid waste sorting at source in the province in 2016-2018 period. Accordingly, objectives of the plan is to identify effective models of solid waste sorting for an extensive implementation across the province; improve awareness, form habits and thoughts of the people in garbage classification. Concluding the meeting, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem basically agreed with the plan of Department of Natural Resources and Environment as well as regulations on solid waste management. Besides, he requested the unit to study, make additional adjustments to complete the plan, and submit to Department of Justice.
